Josh Onomah

I dont think it really "clicked" for Dembele. It was Jol moving him backwards in the team instead as a forward that made the difference to his career. Much like when Bale moved form full back to a winger.

It was Hughes at Fulham, actually.

Started there as a striker, was moved to both wings, behind the striker...

It was a year as a CM when he looked class and that convinced us to buy him

How much did we get for him?

No idea.

Talk earlier was Sessegnon = £25m + £5m (bonuses) + Onomah.

Which in my maths comes to around the £45m Fulham wanted. Its gone through as seperate deals (though the timing of announcement certainly indicates a connection) and nothing yet as to the breakdown of financials on either.

Also goes to prove that with Onomah being in the stand at a fulham game and the sessegnon deal could and should have been wrapped up earlier in the window. Would have been nice for him to get at least one friendly with the team.

Doesn't really prove anything. The value would still have had to be finalised and Onomah would have to agree to the move. There was talk of Saudi Sportswashing Machine showing interest in Onomah, so it wasn't necessarily clear-cut just because Onomah watched Fulham play a few days ago that he would be going there. Plus rumours that Parker didn't want to let Sessegnon leave.
Lots of if/buts/rumours but enough to make it not magically straightforward.

For what reason would the deal not be done earlier, if it was possible to get it done earlier?

Onomah being there was but one part of the puzzle, I dont think it proves anything other than talks have been ongoing for some time.

I think Onomah would be about £7 million max on the market.

Sessegnon is injured

The story earlier this afternoon was the Sessegnon announcement was being held back until Onomah completed his move which supports what you are saying.

I hope we inserted a 20% sell-on fee for Josh. Although it would serve us right if someone loaned him first, to nix us

Hard to play a friendly when you're injured ;)

I wonder that if the Betis deal truly takes money from psg it will mean change the language of sell on fees to include any fee received for a player. I assumed it would have been phrased as such today.

Could be a permanent move is what he's needed all along. Really hope it works out for him.

Yeah for sure. Parker could be a great help to him (pre-emptive yawn prior to a comment regarding pirouettes) as part of a fresh start.

Think young Josh has been something of a marmite topic on this board and probably across the fanbase as a whole. To me, his first appearances for the team he looked very capable and not out of his depth but to others it must have seemed the opposite. That's how it goes sometimes I guess but I'm hoping like many others before him, a spurs academy product will forge a great career for themselves.

Hope we'll see him back in the prem soon enough, would much prefer Fulham than some of the other horrible clubs that always come back like chlamydia.
