William Saliba

Its not really hijacking their target.

If we are in for him it means he has been scouted extensively and we have decided to pursue a deal for him, perhaps earlier than planned as otherwise he’d be locked down by the anal.

Speaking about Saliba, Mourinho told Metro: ‘I think he has everything needed to become a good player, much like Kurt Zouma, who I signed.’

Cant work out if this is a compliment or not
I randomly caught a french game a few years back and saw zouma for the first time. He was absolutely unreal. An utter fudging beast. Stood out an absolute mile. He was unbeatable at the back and unplayable at set peices etc when he went up the other end. I thought ‘who the hell is this guy’!!!

Was absolutely gutted when he then signed for the chels. Good for us to see that their ridiculous insistence on signing great potential players then slowly killing them via crap loans has paid off.

I absolutely guarantee their is/was a player in there anyway.

Zouma was very solid for Everton last season, think he's a pretty damn good player.

Wasnt really a judgement on Zouma per se. Obviously he was poor at Chelsea, but seemed to do well at Everton (who want to buy him) and is young and improving...

It was more Mourinho holding him up as a comparison for quality, given that he was very poor under him at Chelsea...

We are going to make an offer at some point, You won't know when, You won't know why, but it will happen, oh yes it will happen.

What a load of gonad*s.
So that tweet was giving notice that we’re going to give notice that we’re going to make an offer.

Which will be immediately refused of course.

I think it's odd us going for any young CB if they aren't left footed, especially for the kind of money mentioned. We need Jan's heir apparent as Sanchez and Foyth look to have the other side covered no?

He's a right-sided CB, which counts against him (we have three of those already - and only one left-footed CB).

He's also only 18, which counts against him (too young to immediately start or displace Sanchez/Verts).

He's only played 19/20 full games, which is another mark against him (small sample size).

Saint Etienne are also apparently demanding that the kid be loaned back to them for 19-20, to enable him to participate in their first Europa League campaign in ages. so that counts against him as well.

So, all that makes this a bit of a weird one.

However, what counts for him is that he's incredibly talented - lightning-quick, extremely mature for his age, confident dispossessing players without sliding in and good on the ball. He's also a physical unit at 1.86m, and has massive upside.

So if we are indeed interested, it has some justification. Still a bit weird.

I might be wrong, but right from the start, this has smelled to me like our supposed interest has just been trumped up by Arse fans in the media, so that when he finally goes there, it looks like they got one over.
