Transfer Tittle-Tattle

Arsenal offered Real Madrid misfit Mariano Diaz in cut-price transfer

Arsenal have a restricted transfer budget this summer but have been alerted to the availability of Mariano Diaz

Arsenal have been offered Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz in a cut-price deal.

The Gunners have a transfer budget of just £40m following the failure to qualify for the Champions League.

That has dented Arsenal's hopes of landing Wilfried Zaha while they also look set to miss out on Ryan Fraser and Yannick Carrasco.

But Diaz is surplus to requirements at Real Madrid and Arsenal have been sounded out about taking him for a cut-price £18m.

The Gunners are down a forward since allowing Danny Welbeck to leave the club.

Emery is closing in on a £27m deal to sign St Etienne defender William Saliba but that fee is set to be paid in instalments with the player loaned back to his club.

The Arsenal boss is also chasing another defender, full back and winger and may have to make use of the loan market to get deals done.

But having made an approach to Real for Lucas Vazquez as a possible option to fill the requirement for a wide man, the opportunity to sign Diaz has now presented itself.

He still has four years left on his contract with the Spanish giants but they need to sell after spending big this summer.

And Diaz, who made 13 appearances in La Liga last season, scoring three times, is one of several players told they can leave to help balance the books.

Diaz was linked with Arsenal’s north London rivals Tottenham recently but they have other priorities.

It remains to be seen whether Emery would have any interest in the player but it is understood the opportunity to sign him was not dismissed out of hand.

Arsenal are still weighing up whether to make an improved bid for Wilfried Zaha in the face of fierce resistance from Crystal Palace .

And they remain in the hunt for £25m-rated Celtic full back Chris Tierney despite the Scottish champions knocking back two bids.

But Emery knows he needs to sell players to make room in his squad and boost his transfer kitty.

That's so funny, RM have gone "who has no money" and picked Arsenal and said "you can have this player we don't rate and it'll only cost you £15m"

Diaz looks decent, but striker is the one position that Arsenal don't need help in. Can't see it happening.

I remember kitson and Michael bridges were two we were looking at to replace sheringham towards the end of the 90s. Both looked decent young English players with a bit of intelligence. We ended up with Ferdinand, iverson and rebrov instead

Exclusive: Roma in assault for Tottenham star, Baldini ready to travel to London

11 July at 10:30
Roma are interested in acquiring the services of Tottenham Hotspur veteran defender Toby Alderweireld. The Belgium international has just one year left on his contract with the North London-giants and also has a release clause worth £25 million in his contract.

As learned by Calciomercato.com, the Rome-based club are now interested in signing a defender who is known for his technical abilities. To make this deal a reality, the Giallorossi sports director is expected to meet with Alderweireld’s agent Soren Lerby on Thursday and would like to put a decent offer on the table.

Once the deal between the player and the club is agreed, Roma will then discuss with Spurs about the player’s potential transfer deal, with Baldini ready to travel to London to negotiate with the English club.

The Belgium international has had an impressive career for Spurs where he has made 142 league appearances and scored six goals. However, in the recent past, the 30-year-old has faced some fitness problems and was sidelined for a long time during the 2017-18 season.

Real Madrid want to sell Gareth Bale and FIVE others to fund Paul Pogba transfer or move for Christian Eriksen

"Real Madrid take off," Marca's front page said on Wednesday. "With excess baggage."

The Madrid squad travelled to Canada on Tuesday to kick off their pre-season training, ahead of International Champions Cup games against Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Atletico MadridZinedine Zidane had hoped to fly out to North America with his squad complete for next season, but Los Blancos are no nearer to securing a new midfield signing, while the future of six players remains unresolved.

Gareth Bale is one of those. Zidane wants the Welsh winger to be sold, but the player is in no hurry to leave and Standard Sportunderstands he will only consider a move to one of Europe's elite clubs.

That rules out a transfer to China, which was rumoured in the media on Tuesday, but offers from elsewhere are not forthcoming at this point.

Madrid had hoped to use the winger in a deal to bring in Paul Pogba from Manchester United, but the Red Devils have no plans to sell the France midfielderOle Gunnar Solskjaer looks to bring in young British talent

Madrid are looking to make around €200million from player sales in the remainder of the window, with Bale, Isco, Mariano Diaz, James Rodriguez, Lucas Vazquez and Keylor Navas all available.

Without recouping close to or at least half that amount, Los Blancos are unlikely to be able to afford Pogba or Tottenhammidfielder Christian Eriksen ahead of the 2019-20 season, having already spent in excess of €300m this summer on Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ferland Mendy, Rodrygo and Eder Militao.

The Brazil defender was presented at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday and had to cut short his press conference due to a dizzy spell just as he was asked a question about Neymar.

Real hope there will be at least one more player presentation this summer and Los Blancos will turn their attentions to Eriksen if a deal for Pogba proves impossible, but the World Cup winner is still priority for Zidane.

Los Blancos have raised close to €150m so far this summer with the sales of Mateo Kovacic (to Chelsea), Marcos Llorente (to Atletico), Theo Hernandez (to AC Milan) and Raul de Tomas (to Benfica).

But more are needed and as the squad train out in Montreal, the club will continue to work on the sales of Bale, Isco, James, Mariano, Navas and Vazquez.

Selling is the priority before buying and making money back on those players seems set to be the key to bringing in either Pogba or Eriksen later in the window

Most of Madrid's deadwood are overhyped mediocre players. We should stay well clear of most of them. Isco's about the only the one with real quality.

If Eriksen goes, we need to demand full cash and buy players we actually want/who fit Poch's system.
Not that I have seen all of them but I can imagine this being largely accurate. They stockpile as much talent as they can, and if they aren’t good enough they know they could easily sell them based on the fact they play for Real Madrid alone. Isco is quality, most of the rest are yet to prove themselves anywhere (not talking about Rodriguez who we’ve never really been linked with) . At least when we signed VdV he had proven himself elsewhere, and at Madrid aswell actually....

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny stump up the money and buy himself out of his £90k-a-week contract after he refused to go to the club's U.S. preseason tour, the Evening Standard reported.

Arsenal were left angered when their 33-year-old captain refused to go on tour with the squad in an effort to force through a move to French club Bordeaux.

You know it's bad when your players are trying to force a move to... Bordeaux. Probably for less money too. Lol

What are they going to do without their "best" defender
