Ryan Sessegnon

Signing clarke now for a low fee when he has years left on his contract makes sense but signing sessegnon now for a huge fee when he has a year left makes zero sense.

Let him stay at fulham another year to continue learning his trade and then get him for the 500k compensation next summer.

We don't need him now anyway and the 25m-45m can be better allocated elsewhere this window.

I don’t think it’s that simple, Hazard at Chelsea being a recent example.

Perhaps Sessegnon doesn’t want another season of the championship, so either we move now or he goes to another prem club? Also Fulham could potentially freeze him out for not signing a new deal as they want to receive a decent fee for him (a strategy that has been suggested for our own one year contract rebel...)

Hazard is very different as madrid are desperate and hazard isnt getting any younger.

We on the other hand are far from desperate for sessegnon and he is 18 or 19.

Fulham wont freeze him out. They will want to increase their chances of going back up, not focussing on cutting off their own nose...

Ok, must be Daniel Levy deciding he wants to blow 25m for the fun of it then.

£45mil is too much considering the average season he's just had. 25mil seems about right, and 1mil for his brother (who I know nothing about)

£45m is a lot - I dont dispute that - but how "average" was his season?

Given his age, Id venture he actually had a very good season, even if it was in a terrible (and terminal!) side.

They are all mitigation factors to be sure. When I watched him he was very ineffective, but seemed to be improving towards the end of the season. Overall an average season would be my opinion but I am open to corrections.

Im not trying to argue he was a world beater, but he got a very commendable amount of goals and assists, in a team that couldnt score in a brothel. Was regularly one of their best performers, and to his credit didnt look out of his depth at all.

At 18 years old.

I think its quietly quite remarkable to be honest!

Fair enough. I didn't see too many good performances but it was a smallish sample size. I do hope we pick him up too and as you implying, he might end up a bargain.

If they want £45m then we should really think about walking away.
They’re just trying it on. Fulham aren’t in a position of strength here at all. Although the Wan Obi Biscotti fee will be giving them renewed hope I guess.

But Wan Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is still an EPL player and actually had a number of MotM performances last season so it isn't really a comparison is it, no matter how Fulham try to pitch it.

Agreed. He also doesn’t have an expiring contract with a championship club.
I just meant they’ll no doubt try the ‘young home grown’ premium trick and alude to the similarity in position.
