Max Aarons

Well, there goes "our RB position solved for the next 10 years." He'll cost more than Obi-wan next summer.

He looked the absolute dogs danglies against us a couple of seasons back, but has since done basically nothing of note.

At the time I thought he looked class but at this point it would seem more likely he was a bit of a one hit wonder.

Not to write him off, but certainly downplaying what he is/isnt at this point.

If we went for him it would indeed be a punt - is that what we need right now?

He's only 21. Poch would have the time to mould him.

I thought he was older.

Regardless, he would still represent a punt. He would need time to grow and develop, he wouldnt be right into the team (or even close IMO).

So for now, in our current situation, I dont really see the point.

Of course if we get some quality in and see him as a squad player thats fine, as I said he has looked really good in the past so Id be happy to have a gamble then.

I wonder if Fosu-Mensah is worth a punt too.

A young player ( 21) who can play in several positions ( another one who came through the Ajax system), already has three caps for Holland. Not progressed at Fulham ( where he is on loan) but is one who will progress into a very good player ( imo).

I think who Emirates Marketing Project need is not always related to who they buy. Not saying it'll happen but that was the figure being mentioned.

Makes more sense to me to try and spend 55m on a Juventus first team player than say a speculative buy from Crystal Palace.

He couldn't get in the Fulham team consistently could he? I think we are judging him on the one good game (it was a very good game) against us 2 or 3 years ago.

This is my concern. He looked seriously talented that day, but hasnt really shone since. I think while there is potential for a quality player in there, it is far from a guarantee he will be able to realise that potential.

KWP is currently a better option at RB (and I don't think he will be a top half RB).

Fosu-Mensah has missed the boat imo bad loans to Palace and Fulham, needs a lot to turn it around. I will be surprise if he is at a decent club in the next 5 years.

5 years is a long time in football, and he is young enough to develop significantly still, but its bordering on "now or never" time for him IMO.

If Wan Bissaka goes to Utd I would assume Fosu-Mensa will be moving on. Chances are a fresh start, most likely lower level team, will allow him the chance to settle in and build some momentum. Regular games make a massive difference.

Im 50/50 on whether he will make it or not.

I certainly think he can, but in terms of us going for him it would be an absolute gamble - and chances are he wouldnt get the games to grow with us.
