Wan-Bissaka

Back to Wan Bissaka, United have bid for him so probably unlikely he will come to us (I still think we should try and sign him). Have we even been linked to any other RB’s? Is there a chance we may be stuck with Trippier at RB next season?

I think united will do a Luke Shaw on him, make him a record signing on big wages and then ruin him as a player due to a lack of coaching at a club where more manager turnover is likely next season.
We have been loosely linked with Meunier and a Japanese 29 year old i’d not heard of.

Trippier has been linked with moves away which can’t be due to his good form so I’m optimistic that he will be off. Aurier s injury struggles despite his improvement (starting from a similar place to Sissoko for me!) make it difficult to make a case for him above KWP as back up, but I really can’t see any reason for KWP to stay unless he is given a run as second choice.

Replacing Tripper would be a universally popular opinion, personally I’d sell him and rely on the other two!

I'd be kind of interested to see what Hodgson would do with the kind of money spoken about if they do end up selling him; you could say he didn't thrive with the funds at his disposal at Liverpool but whether he was ever given a chance of succeeding there...

Agree completely, I don't think we should be looking to replace him. Aurier is due a big season and KWP would hopefully thrive given more gametime. With Foyth and Sissoko (especially if we do sign an all singing all dancing superstar midfielder) being able to play there as well it seems silly to A - Give up on KWP and B - Use three squad spaces for RB, unless Chimbonda is available that is but that goes without saying.

We seem to be ignoring that attacking is prioritised over defending in fullbacks playing in top teams now. It has been where we have noticeably regressed this season and it is the weakest part of Wan-Bissaka's game. Can he develop this and does the reported price reflect that he is currently unsuited to a CL side?

Manchester United target Aaron Wan-Bissaka has told Crystal Palace he wants to make a dream move to Old Trafford.

Palace want to keep Wan-Bissaka - but are determined to hold out for the best possible price if they are to lose him.

That could mean United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer paying £60million for the right-back.

But England under-21 ace Wan-Bissaka does not want to be caught in the middle as a summer transfer tussle plays out between the two clubs.

Both Palace and United are also eyeing Norwich full-back Max Aarons - the Eagles would look to sign him if Wan-Bissaka leaves, while United are considering him as an alternative to their top right-back target .

Wan-Bissaka needs the Old Trafford switch to happen fast - so he doesn't miss out to Canaries ace Aarons.

Palace haven't received a transfer request from Wan-Bissaka, but the player has told them he wants to join United , according to The Sun .

Former Palace winger John Salako is concerned a move to United could be too soon for Wan-Bissaka - as it was when Wilfried Zaha made the same move in 2013.

"He's got the world at his feet," Salako said of Wan-Bissaka to Love Sport Radio .

"But my only concern is that we had Wilfried Zaha leave at a young age and he didn't cope.

"He wasn't mature enough and didn't really settle in at Man Utd. He ended up coming back and has had the best spell of his career since he came back. He's obviously another one linked with moving away (this summer) but I'm just a bit concerned with Aaron.

"It's been his first full season and it's been absolutely magnificent. He couldn't have been lying in bed and dreamt of a better debut season. He probably needs more games.

"It's too early for Aaron. He needs another season. I'm not surprised United have come in because they could probably get him cheaper and they think they need to do something now."

Would prefer Aarons
Cheaper and a better passer of the ball

I doubt he'd want to leave now they've been promoted and he's guaranteed to be first choice there, without the Spurs hat on it's a better option for him staying at Norwich and developing for at least a season. Same with Sessegnon last season.

Don’t disagree at all
It makes sense for him
But we can still make a move

Big chance, as someone else here said, we have three RBs and it seems to be hard to sell players these days (+under Levy).

Exactly. Buy and loan back. Otherwise we'd pay triple for him next year, if he does have a great season.

Are we going to spend X amount of our budget this window on a player we aren't going to use this season? I don't think so

Why not? Would we rather spend £20m now or a potential £40-50m next year? Didn't we do the same with Dele, albeit for half a season?

We will have our plate full with first XI and squad signings i would have thought - cant see us buying two RBs or sticking with what we have there for another season

Im a big fan of Wan Bissaka, but cant see why we would spend £50m+ on him, likely a lot more once Utd get in the bidding, when we can get a very talented RB like Aarons for less than half the price.

Depends on if we have £20m sitting around unused after securing higher priority players.

There's also the point of maybe having to secure a new right back for the upcoming season. How do we rate KWP? Would another talented right back coming in next summer be what we need?

Will Norwich agree to that deal if they also think they can get twice that in a year?

Finally if we have £20m to spend on a talented player for the future there could be other talented players around that we want more.

How about we sign Aarons, and loan then Walker-Peters for the season.
Think it would harder than we think to sign Aarons unless he kicks up a fuss at Norwich. There's not much benefit for Norwich unless they get a huge bid for him.

I was thinking more along the lines of Aurier being our first choice RB with KWP backing him up and Aarons coming in next season to replace either Aurier or KWP (or deputize for Aurier, if he ends up having a great season). Aurier has been plagued with injuries this year, but on his few appearances has looked like he is beginning to get with the program. Shirley can't do any worse than Trippier.
