Transfer Tittle-Tattle

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have placed calls to the agent of Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, as they position themselves in the race for his signature.

Pellegrini has a release clause set at just €30m in his Roma contract and it can be paid over two instalments of €15m.

Roma have been working hard to sign Pellegrini to a new contract that would remove the clause, which they see as an issue.

But while Roma try to agree a new contract, Pellegrini's agent has been fielding calls from clubs interested in his client.

AC Milan and Inter have been in touch while, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, now Arsenal and Tottenham have made contact.

The north London club have put forward proposals to the agent which would see Pellegrini make the move to the Premier League this summer.

But Roma will not easily allow Pellegrini to go and are prepared to make him vice-captain if he pens a new deal.

The Giallorossi are under no inclination to cash in on Pellegrini, despite missing out on Champions League football, and want him to remain an integral member of the side next season.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal or Tottenham can make a tempting offer to prevent Pellegrini from extending his stay in Rome.

The Italy international netted four goals and registered seven assists in all competitions this season.

I don't think its that big.

Starting 11 next season wont be too much different from the CL final imo (lets assume Moura for Son for first 2 games) - give or take 1 or 2 new additions.

Expect other additions to be squaddies and they will all be moved in to the starting 11 when ready/gradually.

It wont be like the post Bale season imo.
It's big considering we stood still for what seemed like a footballing transfer season eternity.

CE! The reports coming out about considering a new 4 year contract with us is true. It is all about the minefield of clauses. It will not deter our quest to bring in two midfielders, which is well documented. Danny Rose wants a new contract. It is all about what he expects, and what we would possibly offer. No buyers at present for VJ, and GK

Lloris, Jan, Sanchez, 2X FBs, 3X CM, Son, Dele, Kane, could be as much as 5 new players.

Yes, Davies, Winks, Sissoko, Lamela could allow for a little integration time, but fact is we need to upgrade the FBs and CM positions (even if Eriksen stays). Trying another season with Winks & Sissoko plus Davies & Trippier as first choice is just stupid.

You might be disappointed post window.

We are signing players from the army??

Furthermore

You're suggesting we could line up first few games with no:

Trippier
Aurier
Winks
Sissoko
Eriksen
Rose
Davies
Dier
Wanyama

?

The possible changes I see to the CL final team are:

GK - As you were
RB - Quite probably - If an improvement can be sourced.
LB - Unlikely we'll sign someone that will start ahead of Rose or Davies. If one is sold I'd expect the other to start.
CBs - As you were/from current squad
CMs - Maybe a new addition will start straight away if its marquee (Ndom), but if not it will be 2 of Dier/Sissoko/Winks. New addition(s) to bed in gradually.
AMs - If Eriksen goes, we may add two, one of which could start. If we don't sell Eriksen, I see one addition, who may have to wait his turn.
Striker - Potentially one back up to replace Llorente - likely wont start.

So I see approx. 2 new starters at the beginning of next season. One possibly in CM and a RB and/or AM.

No doubt we will add some SQUAD depth, which is where I think we fell short last season.

I just don't see Poch trying to bed in so many players so soon. Even if they were added to the squad.

On SkyBet we’re currently odds-on to sign Jack Clarke (2/5), Ryan Sessegnon (2/5) and Lo Celso (8/11). We’re 7/4 to sign N’Dombele. Longer odds the rest.

To be clear, this isn't my wish list (and while your above points have logic)

- Trippier we are seemingly actively trying to move on
- Aurier it also seems we are open to offers
- Winks & Sissoko will be part of the squad but will be one of the main areas we are targeting to improve (see all the midfield rumours right now)
- Eriksen and Toby's contract situation is well known
- Rose himself has said he doesn't know (and I know he has tried to leave in past)
- Davies, see Winks and Sissoko, part of squad, but area to improve
- Dier, United is interested (and he wanted to go there in the past, confirmed by Walker), right offer and he is gone
- Wanyama has a real question mark around his fitness.

To your main questions (my opinion)

- Will all the deals happen? = no
- Will we likely only have 2 changes to first 11 = no

Top 4, and cups get harder every season (more points needed, harder mid level teams), there is no way this squad, a year older with no new improvements will compete properly next season and Poch knows it. This preseason cannot be about squad depth, it has to be about first 11 improvement.

My opinion, we start (within first 5 games of season) a new RB, 2X new CMs at minimum.

Bloody hell, it’s Gazza’s twin!!

We are already able to substitute Gazzaniga and Alfie Whiteman without anyone noticing:

United will have to twice break their transfer record for a defender if they are to sign England duo Aaron Wan-Bissaka, 21, from Crystal Palace and Harry Maguire, 26, from Leicester for a combined total of £130m. (Standard)

United are interested in signing Norwich City's English defender Max Aarons, 19, if their move for Wan-Bissaka is unsuccessful. (Sky Sports)

Arsenal are interested in Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, who has a £27m buy-out clause in his contract, but face competition from Tottenham, AC Milan and Inter Milan for the 22-year-old Italy international. (Mirror)

Barca clear out

It has now been claimed that a total of 11 players have been deemed surplus to requirements and the club have reportedly made it clear they will have to seek pastures new.

Thomas Vermaelen, Jeison Murillo and Kevin-Prince Boateng are all out of contract at the Nou Camp this summer and will be leaving for a fresh start.

And Spanish daily Marca has listed another eight players who will be sold by the club this summer, for the right price.

Those out-of-favour players Jasper Cillessen, Nelson Semedo, Samuel Umtiti, Ivan Rakitic, Andre Gomes, Denis Suarez, Malcom and Philippe Coutinho.
