Christian Eriksen

Dont forget included in his comments were a clear indication he is happy to sign a new contract if he doesnt get a move this summer.

It was an interesting comment because if he made his announcement at the request of madrid to lower the fee, well then the new contract remarks undermine all that.

I think he has sat on the fence because he feels that way - would fancy a move to madrid but if it doesnt happen, he wont fudge the club over and leave for nothing in a year and will therefore sign a new deal, albeit for massive money, 200k pw I’d wager.

Therefore this one wont happen imo unless we get a hazard like fee (thats Daniel for you) and we will sign him up on 200k pw perhaps with a clause that he can go for £130m.
That's not what he said the way I read it at least.

If no bigger club comes in for him he's might sign a new contract depending on the situation. If Real for example comes in, but without being willing to pay a price we accept I don't think he will necessarily sign a new deal.

I think that is very, very wishful thinking. Eriksen is as good as gone... whether for a fee this year or free the next.

Like I said when he gave the interview. This is gonna drag on all summer. Eriksen is the back up plan if the Pogba transfer fails. Eriksen won't go anywhere else until Real sign Pogba.
Anyone who is suggesting we will rebuild with the mythical Eriksen money. That's not gonna happen this season. The transfer will be very late if at all.

The club should pick a date by which either he signs or he is sold. The risk of losing him on a free is high.

Never that simple though. The deadline will come and go and you cant force a move or magic up a buyer.
We might have already said you can go if you get it sorted early, but then his agent goes to Madrid and they just stall him and say 'Yeah, Yeah we love him but we just need to sort out x and y first and then keep him hanging.

My concern is that these shenanigans will not impress Poch if it affects his ability to bring players in early. I fear one of these days he will want out

What do the club do then as a solution?
Buy a player in Eriksen position just in case he does leave.?
Tbf it would be nice if we was proactive for once instead of reactive and actually got our players in before our players departed - if Eriksen doesn't go this season he will probably depart on a free anyway in a year, why not get his replacement in and can bed him in for a season at worst? But of course the chances of that happening here are slim....

As @harr1984 said, he’s probably going to leave on a free anyway. He’s said he wants to leave and will stay if no decent offers come in for him which is essentially like saying I’ll stay with my wife unless a younger model rocks up but if not then I’ll stay with her.

What we don’t want is the for the saga to drag on all summer leaving us little time to bring in a replacement. Eriksen has made it clear he wants to be elsewhere. I’d rather we sign a player who wants to play for us and Eriksen can sit on the bench if we don’t sell him this summer. Or at the very least, he stays but we don’t make him the fulcrum of our attack as we do now. We are too reliant on him.

I think he said if no one comes in he could sign a new contract, so maybe not leaving on a free after all.

Plus he said he wants to move up. If we make some statement signings this summer and really improve the team, there won't be many teams that would be a step up (even now there aren't). Barca, Real, City, Pool, Bayern, PSG. That's about it. Pool and City don't need him and Bayern can't afford him. So that leaves Real, Barca, and PSG. And if none of these teams are interested in signing him, then the highest he could do is Spurs. So I am not too worried about this one.
