Dele Alli

...................Lloris
New RB.....Sanchez.....Jan......Rose
..................Winks
......Sissoko...........N'Dombele
................Dele
......Son.............Kane

Is what i expect to see next year

..................Lloris/Gazzinga/Whiteman
New RB/Aurier.....Sanchez/Foyth.....Jan/New CB......Rose/Davies
..................Winks/Dier
......Sissoko/New...........N'Dombele/New
................Dele/Lamela
......Son/Moura.............Kane/New

Really need to get trading as thats a lot of business to get done

Toby Out - Anderson In?
Trippier Out - Who knows In?
Wanyama Out - Ndombele in
Llorente Out - Who knows In

Still leaves us at least 2 bodies short especially in midfield

Lloris
(Gazzaniga)
New Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
(KWP) (Foyth) (Sanchez) (Davies)
Ndombele Winks
(Sissoko) (Dier)
Son Alli Eriksen
(Moura) (New) (Lamela)
Kane
(New)

For fun of course...a first 11 with a couple of signings which would be fun. The pace of this side would be epic. Rose and Bale together would be entertainment.

Lloris

Sessegnon Foyth Vertonghen Rose

Ndombele Winks

Son Alli Bale

Kane

I also agree with those who want Dele right in off Kane.
We need to give him a season playing where he is offensively effective. I think he is a 15 goal a season player at least if he can consistently play in behind and off Kane...

This is a good lineup, but I really hope GG doesn't start making the same mistake that TFC is making in droves.

Ndombele is *not* a defensive midfielder. Not by any means - his best asset is not his tackling (which is average), his pressing (which is average), or his positioning (which is actually somewhat poor).

He is a brilliant press-resistant dribbler, and a great passer. His strengths lie there, not in defensive midfield.

And ditto Winks - he's really not defensively sound. He can put in an average tackle, press a little, and position himself somewhat adequately, but a midfield of Ndombele and Winks would be overrun unless the front four do an insane amount of defensive work protecting it.

Both would do their best work paired with a specialist DM - Sissoko, Dier or (my choice) a new DM.

Quite risky to expect him to fulfil that role, he's not as creative or comfortable in possession as Eriksen and also goes missing in a fair few games. I think we need to concentrate on him being able to get forward into the box and get back to scoring goals.

Then we probably need to adapt our game plan... It is highly unlikely we will find anyone with the same skill set as Eriksen (esp the version of one-two seasons ago). Maybe utilise more wing play?

He's had a bad season and a lot of that has been due to injuries, but he's almost lost his identity these last 12 months. In the World Cup he was used as one of a 3 man midfield in the 352 but never looked quite comfortable in it. He did his job but it wasn't a role that he was suited to. When playing in a midfield 3 for England's new 433 he has still looked more of a functional part, shackling himself to the system but not using his best attributes.

Dele's skillset is best suited when being given the freedom to float into those half spaces in the attacking third and making the clever moves off of Kane to find himself in front of goal. This brings me on to us, where we either play a 442/4231 with Dele playing off of Kane or a diamond with him at the tip. Now the diamond has worked well enough this year, but I wouldn't be suprised to see us switch things up if we get the targets we are after and with the wingers and midfielders we are being linked to, it looks like a 433 could be the shape.

If so, I think Dele may find himself struggling to get in the starting lineup next season.

By far his worst season, But for the reasons listed above.

Agree with this.

He’s one of a few who will benefit from a break and a ‘reset’ for next season, along with some genuine competition for his place.

Considering how many we’ve had below their previous levels add some fresh blood and we will be fudging amazing next season!

Thing is we have to look at our style of play and see where Alli fits into it, there's often comparisons with Lampard and Gerrard but they were much more box to box in their style and often arrived late into the area or waited outside for rebounds. Alli plays far more advanced and seems to work best in a free role where he can get inbetween the lines but if you have a player that's inconsistent performance wise it becomes a risk. He needs to affect games more, you can't have a midfielder who's only getting 25-30 touches of the ball.

Hopefully next season he can pick things up and kick on. He's still young but needs to keep developing and get back to the form of a couple of years ago, probably co-incidental but I always feel that when footballers start developing clothings brands etc then they start to lose their focus on football.

Dele has taken one for the team this season, Im amazed more people dont seem to recognise it.

The entire midfield has taken one for the team, Dele, Eriksen, Sissoko have all had to do a ton of work in not natural positions to cover for Wanyama, Dier, Winks & Dembele who due to form, injuries, leaving, etc never gave us a consistent/proper deep lying midfield.

Dele as others have mentioned is great at making runs, ghosting the opposition and getting into goal scoring positions.

While I hope rest and down time along with a new midfield help his game next season, he really needs to work on his finishing, even at his best he misses too many sitters ..

Exactly. It started at the WC with the left side of the Diamond duties. Then for Spurs this season has hardly ever played in what I consider his most dangerous position, off of Kane.

We've seen previously for Spurs and also yesterday for England (Could easily have had 2 or 3) what that could yield.

This for me as well, he has been played ( more often then not) out of his best position for us. England played him in his best position and he was probably England's best player yesterday.
