Daniel Levy - Chairman

The one when I correctly said Redknapp was being sacked months before and the ground opening was delayed to much ridicule on here (that eventually earned me £50 of a poster) Yeh that one

I must say, that was my first thought. The stick you got for the (correct) stadium delay post was crazy

I have it on very good authority that we are going to change a large part of the make up of the team in the summer with a HUGE recruitment drive, Spurs 2.0 incoming.

The club was never going to go into new WHL with marque signings without knowing the final costs and the extent of profits. Now we know and the profits are VASTLY more than expected, the additional events are booked in and we have the naming rights and a squad cull to come. Add to that the money Poch didnt spend last summer and the CL run, from what I have been told we are going to go BIG.
Any likely names in or names out?

His last piece of ITK cost me £50!!!
If you want to turn a quick profit betting against ITKs, you’d have done better to have spent the last 18 months gambling on Spurs Community.

You’d have been close to having enough to retire on by now!.....

No one over there would have had the balls to put £50 on their in the know though!

The thing people are perhaps overlooking when talking about a squad overhaul is that, unlike with the Magnificent Seven.. we don't actually have to integrate any of them into the squad straight away.

‐---------------------Lloris---------------------

Aurier----Sanchez----Verts----Rose

----‐---------Sissoko----Winks------------

Lucas--------------Alli---------------Son--

------------------------Kane--------------------

That team above takes into account Toby, Trippier and Eriksen all leaving, and it's not a bad side. Not great, but not bad. Hell, we could even put out a bench without new signings -

Gazza, Foyth, Davies, Walker-Peters, Dier, Skipp, Lamela

Again, not great at all, but somewhat functional.

It's a different predicament to one where we have to play new signings straight away - and I think that allows for a level of flexibility with regard to the number of incomings. It might be more than we think.

Very good point, I do think Aurier is gone though.

The real issue for me is will/can we get immediate 1st team quality (even if they don't immediately start to your point) players this summer. I believe we really need 2-3 to refresh and help us push on.

I also feel we need to give Levy the window before we call judgement, the last 5 years have had very specific challenges, the club has changed and we have to assume good business now is to change/alter our approach as well … but time will tell.

If Aurier is gone, then we'll need at least 2 first-team right backs, no? Given that Trippier looks set to go as well, and Poch doesn't trust KWP.

I think your second point is key, and I 100% agree. We need 1st team quality, even if they don't start straight away. 60m players, 70m players - or at least, players of that calibre, even if they come for cheaper (miraculously so).

No more scrimping. No more saving. No more scrounging and playing the penniless pauper begging for scraps. Spend big. Spend early. And then, after that, recoup the costs with sales if you must.

For once this summer, I hope we act like the club we aspire to be.

I think your second point is key, and I 400% agree. We need 1st team quality, even if they don't start straight away. 60m players, 70m players - or at least, players of that calibre, even if they come for cheaper (miraculously so).

Cost of player should not be the metric we judge on. By all accounts Grealish will cost us £60/70m, not much less than the double de from ajax, or even Hazzard.
Contract length has a big say in cost.

You are right of course but not all fans see it that way

Yes, but in general, good, ready-made players cost more. That isn't in doubt, even as a significant percentage of them remain under/over-valued every year.

What is meant by 'buy expensive players' really boils down to buying largely ready-made, usually already-successful players - or players that are so obviously capable of being world-class that they are already highly sought-after across the football world.

It is not always the case that these players are expensive, but it is usually the case.
