Grealish

Like replacing Berbatov with Frazer Cambpell, and getting Modric in at the same time. 1 step forward, 1 step back

Ndombele or equivalent has to replace 2016-17 season Wanyama. If Eriksen leaves he has to be replaced by someone as good as Eriksen.

That’s why we should avoid a part exchange with Real.

Use the full amount of cash elsewhere

No. Doesn't change the fact we'll have replaced a truly top class creative midfielder with a bang average show pony.

Ndombele would be great, still we need better quality creativity if Eriksen goes.

I hope we can keep him.

If Grealish is a bang average show pony, Frazier Campbell level player, it's not a question of replacing him for Eriksen, he's simply not a player we should ever sign. I have no opinion on his quality as I haven't seen him play in years.

2018-19: 33 games 6 Goals 6 Assists

2017-18: 30 games 3 Goals 6 Assists

2016-17: 31 games 5 Goals 2 Assists

Premier league record before that is even worse.

For a player who's supposed to be the creative force for his team, they're really unimpressive numbers.

Plus he has brick hair, dallies on the ball and is a bit of a prick.

Onamahs stats at Villa

4 goals 3 assists in 33 - so pretty much on par.

What if it's him and someone else, someone like Ndombele?
Buying Ndombele will just return us to where we were before we lost Dembele (albeit with added youth/fitness).

That will makes Eriksen for Grealish as a straight replacement and a massive, massive downgrade. Even his greatest proponents would agree, I'm sure, that that's not a swap we'd want to make.

Thats not his job in that Villa side. He has played with McGinn/Whelan/Hourihane behind him and been given remit to do more creative work.

Which he has.

Im not saying he CAN press and tackle, Im saying thats not been his role.

He could well be quite effective if given the remit.

Exactly, Poch will identify if a player has the traits he believes he can mould into his system which is what any good coach does. What he is doing at a different club under a different manager isnt relevant to an extent. He is always up and down the pitch so no doubt has the engine and last time I checked Eriksen wasnt renowned for his tackling. Given all the tools at Spurs would be very interested to see how he improves.....

Eriksen and Alli have played deeper roles this season, a role someone like Ndombele could perhaps fill?

It wouldn't necessarily be Grealish for Eriksen. Sometimes perhaps Moura for Eriksen with Grealish on the bench.

It all depends on how good Grealish actually is and what his potential is. If he's not at the required level for us short or long term that's the answer, regardless of if Eriksen stays or leaves.

If he's good enough to be a positive signing if Eriksen stays he should be good enough to be a positive signing if Eriksen leaves. Though other players might have to be signed as well...

I agree with you completely (and I was somebody who was more than happy to sign Grealish last summer, especially at the original asking price that Levy ballsed up). Grealish is a player who would add to our squad but is nowhere near replacing Eriksen (and probably never will be). If Eriksen goes then he needs to be replaced with either an already proven, top class player or a younger player in a decent league who already has very, very good numbers.
