Christian Eriksen

Would rather Isco and James - younger and more direct replacements. Modric is more a past version of winks

Modric is about 56 years old and Isco is a major part of zidane’s plans.

Bale isnt though and was left out of the squad today.

They clearly want rid so if Levy can pull it off, should we take a straight swap for eriksen if he refuses to sign a new contract?

Poor Moddy, he still got a couple more good years in him. If Pirlo could play at 56, so can Modric. And I actually think he would be easier to attract than Bale.

Can not say i would blame him either, he is good enough to be winning things and he may think he needs a change, i really hope not,
Let's strike him a deal, if he fires us into the CL final (and winning it), he can go with our blessing. And we get Modric in return. Or Bale. Plus if he wants to win things, wouldn't it be better to stay with the Champions League semi finalists than some two bob team knocked out on their arses in the round of 16?

I would love to see Modric back here (not keen on Bale coming back though), i would rather we kept Ericksen though as he still only 27 and has many good years in front of him.

Modric? I just dont get it to be honest.

I dont think he has the legs for the EPL, and especially for Poch, and I do think we have his heir already developing nicely in Winks.

Yes he was an incredible player, and still has a good game in him, but I just dont see the point or see it being a success.

Another one who really could use the semi retirement of Serie A IMO.

I still hold my view that we can lose Toby, dare I even say Kane, but if we lose Eriksen we have to change up our system pretty heavily. He has been the director of our flowing offense for 6 years. Would be a massive loss.

And when he doesnt play well, we dont play well.

Which suggests he is a single point of failure for the current set up.

And that were he to leave, we would have to adapt - which might not be the worst thing...

That's one way to spin it - hard to really disagree. Still, this season has been the first I can remember the "Spurs v2.0" with so many key players out (of position), so it's hard to judge. Yes he needs the right players in front of him. That's no problem, as long as we have those players. One thing's for sure, we've already had to tweak our system several times this season, and I haven't always liked what I've seen. No offense intended or putting anyone down, but I don't think Sissoko being able to stand out the way he has is exclusively about him being born again.

I agree completely.

Not trying to spin anything either. I think Eriksen is a fabulous player, but it does also bother me our form is so often linked to his.

If Kane is out we have proven we can be fine, similarly Alderweireld/Alli etc. Eriksen? Much less so.

Would seem to me we need either contingency for his absence (when it happens) or - should we sell him - proper adaptation (that would hopefully make us more robust to these things)

Well said, I have nothing further to add to this.

Bale is injury prone and on £600000 a week and Levy will not even offer Eriksen £200000 a week.

I do not see how an Eriksen for Modric is a far exchange for us

If Eriksen is holding out for £200.000 and Levy refuses to pay, someone should smack him upside the head. Levy that is.

eriksen deserves top salary grade but not more. we've still got to invest quite heavily looking at this season. should not sacrifice long term for short. we want to be in the CL again but earlier next season.

You don't see the point in having the current Balon D'or holder and four times CL winner in our squad?

He's just had a poor season by his standards but even a slowing Modders would still play half the Premiership off the park with his vision, nous and sheer skill on the ball. Not to mention the aura that a serial winner of big trophies can bring to the table.

Needs a big performance from our ticker tonight. He's been good in patches this season but in his old ground he has to play to the peak of his game especially if he wants a big move to an oil team.
