Racism in football

Surely they can track the tickets, find out who they are, if they can be proven to be Valencia fans, ban Valencia from Europe for 10 years.

Statement from Valencia :

In regards to the footage from the stands at Arsenal's stadium being shared on social media, Valencia CF:

1. Publicly condemns and expresses its utter disgust and absolute intolerance, as it always has, towards these isolated gestures coming from the visitor stands which in no way represent the Valencian fanbase.

2. Is working alongside its legal team and the appropriate authorities to identify those responsible and, in the case that they are VCF season-ticket holders, to take corresponding disciplinary action, for which it asks for the collaboration and cooperation of other fans present in said stand.

3. While these actions are completely unjustifiable under any circumstances, VCF is also working to obtain more information about any possible provocations leading up to the verbal and gesticular exchange between the home and away stands.

That #3 is concerning in that saying on one hand that this behaviour is unjustifiable whilst on the other hand trying to see if their fans were provoked into it, sounds to me like looking for a way to find a justification. Dangerous ground but one we are all too familiar with in the Yid debate.
Maybe they are saying Woolwich fans were also exhibiting similar behaviour, in which case that needs to be investigated on its own merits. There will always (one would expect) be some level of provocation between home and away fans. It's up to fans, as individuals and as a group, to be able to deal with that without resorting to violence, racism or any other illegal behaviour.

Uh wut? In the video you can clearly hear the home fans expressing their disgust, telling the Valencia clams to fudge off.

You can hate the Goons, but typically they aren't cut from the same cloth as Chelsea or West Ham fans.

I'm not saying they (Goons) were doing anything wrong. It's Valencia implying they might have been. I am just positing that even if they had been, it is irrelevant to how the Valencia fans acted and Valencia as a club shouldn't be trying to draw any potential equivalance as a justification for the vile actions of their own fans.

“We are really sorry you thought that what happened in Cagliari was racist,” the letter, written in English and Italian, says. “You have to understand that Italy is not like many other north European countries where racism is a REAL problem.

“We understand that it could have seemed racist to you but it is not like that. In Italy we use some ‘ways’ only to ‘help our teams’ and to try to make our opponents nervous, not for racism but to mess them up.

“We are a multiethnic fans organisation and we have always welcomed players from everywhere. However, we have always used that ‘way’ with other teams’ players in the past and we probably will in the future. We are not racist and so are not the Cagliari fans.

“You have to understand that in all Italian stadiums people cheer for their teams but at the same time they use to cheer against the opponents not for racism but to ‘help’ their own team.

“Please consider this attitude of Italian fans as a form of respect for the fact they are afraid of you for the goals you might score against their teams and not because they hate you or they are racist.

Vile. Just vile. Hope the club liquidates.

Be fair the Roman empire dominated most of the western world enslaving their population and stripping the countries of resources and I rarely see Italy vilified as much as Britain. They get a free pass.

Makes complete sense. They obviously aren’t actually racist. They are just pretending to be racists!

I wasn’t speeding, officer. I was just pretending to speed.

Of course I didn’t steal that money. I just took it so I could pretend to steal.

Of course Fred West wasn’t a murderer. He was just disposing of his corpses under his patio as part of an amazing plan to unsettle the police, by way of looking like a massive psychotic serial killer. Oh what a wag!

If anything, Lukaku owes those kind Italian supporters a letter of apology.

PS I’m not actually supporting the Italian fans here.

I was just pretending to support them. As that’s what I sometimes do when I want to enjoy myself supporting racist fascists in throwing bananas and making monkey noises to abuse black people.

Footballs got no place to feel sorry for itself here. They don't do enough on racism when the game harbours players and ex players who are proven racists.

Peter Beardsley given 7 month ban for calling someone a monkey and I will continue to harp back to Suarez and Terry being proven as racists and given a throw away ban.

Commercial over action as proven accross the board, therefore until the game does more internally there is no sympathy from me.

Bernardo Silva racially abuses a team mate and will get a light punishment because commercially he is too valuable to sack.

Don't cry to me about the problem of racism in football

yep, they need to start handing out proper punishment, your player racially abused someone, right, thats you banned from continental competition for 10 years, your fans racially abused someone, right thats a 20 point penalty, and so on and so on

Exactly

Until the powers that be ban the likes of Suarez and Terry for 5+ years for calling people racist names how can they expect to tackle the crowds? What example does it set?

Ohhh Peter Beardsley, you called someone a monkey? You can have a 7 month ban?

Tell me where thats the standard to be set? Profit over whats right
