If Aj fights Andy Ruiz then it will just prove what a poor poor promoter Hearn is. Andy Ruiz is a joke

One American fat boy for another. It's very clear that Hearn has absolutely no intention of letting AJ in with anybody who poses a legitimate threat, the Dillian Whye fiasco confirms that. The only way AJ faces truly decent opposition from this point (barring getting shocked by a dark horse) is with everything at stake, so that a maximum cash-out will be achieved if/when he gets beat.

I honestly think people are starting to switch off AJ now, not in huge numbers but other than being world champ he has not been interesting in over a year, where as the Fury and Wilder fight still echos in the mind. For me thats what boxing is all about.

I don't buy all the people bottling it stuff from Hearn, I just feel they are trying to screw down any potential opponents.

AJ will soon be a joke at this rate. Everyone knows what an out of his depth clam Hearn is but this is ridiculous.

This Ruiz fella is a joke, seriously how Hearn can go on social media and TV and tell people is credible is insane. I can see alot of tickets at MSG on 3rd party sites now where they are being sold off because people don't want to go.

It's a possibility that Ortiz might have bottled it - it doesn't sound like it reflects great on him, but we can't know for sure what's really gone on. IMO though the big bottle story in the heavyweight division is Hearn himself, over letting AJ in with Whyte.

You can fully understand it from a careful-management-of-your-fighter point of view; Whyte is the definition of a high risk/low reward opponent. But from the sporting/entertainment/fan side of things it absolutely stinks, and has/will lead to the type of situation you describe with people turning off when they twig what's actually going on.

I just don't see a situation where Ortiz goes in with Wilder and then bottles AJ, maybe he has but I don't see it.

Hearn and AJ are good at discrediting other boxers and saying what offers are made etc etc etc but ultimately people don't care, cry me a river, just getthe fights on, oh no you got Ruiz Jnr.....Bum

I get what you're saying, however back-to-back defeats to Wilder and Joshua (likely both heavy stoppages) would just about finish off any top-level pretensions for him. I really don't know, it just seems to me like something he should've been biting their hand off for. That said, the fact that Whyte also walked away from their offers might suggest there is more to it. As I said, who knows...

or its a case of Ortiz feels under paid if he is going to be under cooked for the fight for the same reasons as you say. If I was gonna be put in the ring to set my progress back and do it as short notice....pay me, if not don't.

But he's 40 now and his career is almost finished anyway so he has nothing to lose and would gain a massive payday. Not sure what's with it but giving someone 6 weeks to prepare for a big fight at his age would be tough.

I think Joshua has been managed poorly recently, they can't keep going on about these supposed offers and everyone turning them down. If indeed they are true and I'm not sure they are then the job of a promoter is to get deals done. Fury seemed to manage it pretty easily as an example, Ortiz managed it with Wilder as well so I don't think Wilder is running scared of anyone.

What does Whyte have to do to get another crack at Joshua? That's the fight I want to see, I'd love to see Whyte knock AJ out. Not because I hate AJ or anything, I just like Whyte. And I think it'd be a good fight, whatever happens.

That's kind of my point, I'm leaning towards thinking it was a strange thing to do for Ortiz to have turned this down. The figures being bandied about on social media suggest he was offered 10x his Wilder purse, or even more. On the surface of it, I don't get why he hasn't taken their arm off. And yes, 6 weeks not ideal timeframe for preparation, but not the worst either. Hence my thinking that maybe he'd bottled out of it.

The counter side to the argument is that Whyte turned down a similar amount, and we can be pretty certain bottle wasn't an issue there, so maybe there is something more to these deals, who knows?

Hearn is terrified of the prospect in my opinion. And he has the ear of both fighters, meaning he is in prime position to 'guide' them down alternative routes...

I was quite surprised Whyte didn't take whatever was offered (5m?) for the wembley date, just to get it done. I personally don't see that kind of figure as low-ball....IF it's accurate, and again we just don't know the full details. The problem is the threat Whyte poses. There's probably a roughly similar chance at this point of Whyte sparking Joshua as there is Wilder doing it, or Fury outpointing him. But if either of the latter two occur, they'll do so in blockbuster spectacles with lucrative rematch clauses etc. etc....and so the money train will roll nicely on. If Whyte does him, there's a much, much smaller payoff. I therefore think Hearn is going to keep them apart as long as possible, ideally until Whyte has a belt to cushion some of that downside risk. And because they know the threat he poses, they'll probably do all they can to get Whyte in with either Wilder or Fury (or even Klitschko, as was rumoured a while back) before Joshua.

Billy Joe Saunders won the vacant WBO world super-middleweight title with a unanimous points victory over Shefat Isufi at Stevenage's Lamex Stadium.

The former WBO middleweight belt holder joined the list of two-weight world champions in dominant style, showing punch variety and classy movement.

The 29-year-old was briefly wobbled by a right hand in the sixth round but found poise again to capture the belt.

Judges scored the fight 120-108 117-111 118-110 in favour of the Englishman

Devastating knockout, however the truth is that Breazeale should never have been in that fight. How a governing body managed to mandate him as challenger ahead of Dillian Whyte is absolutely absurd. Nothing new of course, but a big part of the problem with boxing today (and for the past couple of decades to be honest).

sad we're not going to see the unification fight everyone craves, this is a golden age for the heavyweight division after the boring Klitscho years and there is the potential for some great fights, hope promotors can get past politics and money and sort something out.

So it's Ortiz II next for Wilder, with possibly Fury II pencilled in for after it.

I want to see Wilder face Joshua as much as anyone, but I must admit seeing Hearn & Joshua getting flipped off like this is at least some compensation for it not happening.

Wilder v Ortiz is a very decent fight in my opinion as is Fury next for either.

What I love like you is AJ and Hearn getting no traction because they are trying to play on the belts which really no one really cares about, people wanna see fights. AJ Ruiz is a massive donk of a fight

The size difference between Joshua and Ruiz is quite shocking. Somehow I didn't expect it to be quite that extreme. Any lingering thoughts I might have had about this not being a total farce just ended.
