Toby Alderweireld

I didn't mention Sanchez as it's the Toby thread. Sanchez was also poor on the goal, I agree. I think Toby was worse though, imo he needlessly went into the area he was and that allowed Foden a free run in there.
Actually just seen an interesting piece on Goals on Sunday and they freeze the play when Bernardo receives the ball and Sanchez is looking at two players, and he should be shouting at Eric Dier to drop in and pick one up - no mention of Toby. The back 5 had actually kept a perfect shape until that point...

I don't remember anyone saying that. I do remember people saying that they could see sense in favouring a player who was committed to the club and would be Alderweireld's long term successor.

I do. Probably the same people who said we’d be better off with Trippier than Walker at right back.

I’m more confident of Toby signing now than I was last summer. He’s got his head down and played well for the most part even if he hasn’t quite been at his absolute best.

I agree with that. I also wonder whether Eriksen signing will have an impact on toby thinking that Spurs actually isnt a bad place to be. Main caveat to this is that given this is Toby's last big contract, if someone like PSG comes in for him then he'll understandably be off

That makes sense I suppose, a midfielder should be following Foden back.

If as it seems Toby does leave us this summer it is beginning to look like Utd may be off his list, because I would expect him to join a club playing in the CL

He would be mad to join Manure. By the time they're competitive again, Toby will have retired.

You joking ? ManU are a fallen football dynasty that will take 20-30 years to recover (Just ask Liverpool!) And ManU are just into the 6th year after their fall from grace. By the time they recover, Alderweireld will be 45-50 years old !:D

He is losing his pace. Will be brilliant next season, crap the one after. His be contract should reflect that.

Konte at RB in Germany looks a real prospect to me.
