Toby Alderweireld

On so many levels. The fact they’re our local rivals, reopening of the rSol wounds, them getting one up on us, the fact he’d be a great signing for them and a massive loss for us and it’d make us look small time.

Get him signed up. He’s a top, top defender. Triffic even.

I’m hoping it’s his agent getting us to re-open talks.

But like Sol there is nothing we can do to stop him moving.

It wouldn't surprise me if Levy put an Arsenal and Chelsea sub-clause into the release clause. I can't imagine the player's team would particularly have objected to something like that at the time

No need to move house and he's got kids now?

He's spoken before about how he doesn't really spend time in London, and goes back to Antwerp whenever he gets a day off. On that logic, Dortmund, PSG or back to Ajax would be the most logical moves

Like the logic. Works for me.

Arsenal it is then!;)

He's 30 now, what's he going to get 2 years + extension at most?
He will last longer out of EPL also

It would be a massive kick in the balls if he moved to a London rival. Another league team would be bad enough but Arsenal or Chelsea....

It wouldn't make much sense for him either, especially at 25 million he should be an option for pretty much every top team in Europe and its not like either of Arsenal or Chelsea are currently dining at the top table in terms of trophies or players.

I can see him going somewhere like Juve or Inter.

Depends what quality they rely on (strength, pace, reading of the game etc.) and what system they play in (high line or deep sitting).

Dawson was screwed in a high line once his pace went around Alder's age.

Verts though could play at the very top for another 5 or more years you feel

Toby has never been that quick, I’d say him and Vertonghen are roughly the same pace wise. His game like Vertonghen has always been about reading the play, so if you saying Jan can play in the PL for another 5 years so could Toby they are that similar.

Dawson was screwed in a high line from the very start of his career! ;)
