Daniel Levy - Chairman

@DubaiSpur the salt in the Villa thread was hilarious .. thanks

I think you have to look at Levy across two measurables

- Financially improving the position of the club, revenue streams, getting us established (arguably could be said Spurs created the top 6 concept, was Sky 4 before) in the top group in PL and most importantly securing long term future of the club = without doubt, an unqualified success, (look at Swiss ramblings view in financials thread), we have basically closed the gap on the Scum with revenue, and are a lot closer to Pool, Chelsea than those behind are to us. I'd argue probably only United has improved the revenue position in anything like what we have in last 5 years (City/Chelsea still dependent on money doping). Will be a historical figure for the club's history at some point.

- On field results, this is the question with controversy. Has he improved on field result, given us a top level team that the best 11 can beat almost any side in the world on a given day? = absolutely, 12 European campaigns for a club that had been out of Europe for decades. The argument is, could we have done better? with a little more bravery/risk, would they have been a cup or two more, a CL campaign or two more? a title even?

The second one will never be answered, it's speculation, and I guess my view is does it matter? in another 18 years (time from start of stadium project) if the stadium does allow us to push on (even if we need to wait a few years, maybe a different squad/manager) and we achieve that success, will we still rue that moment where it could have been a little bit more, a little bit better?

Villa, Leeds, Saudi Sportswashing Machine and others show what could have been if he didn't get the first part right ...

Including that minute Donkey Adams ghosted in at the back stick at Wembley in 93....im still f.cked off now.

What I remember about that goal is that it was at Old Trafford, I should know because I was there, and correct me if I have this wrong, Sol Campbell committed the foul that led to the free kick from which Adams scored. And them he, Campbell, had the nerve to leave us on a free to them because he wanted to win stuff. Yep, when I think about that it really hacks me off as well so I try not to

Old Trafford was in 2001 when Campbell got injured and joined Arse the following season. 93 was at Wembley when Adams scored, we should have had a pen when Anderton was brought down by Andy Linighan...such a great tackle that won the ball that we didn't even get a corner!

And as the song goes.......

And if you know your history...............

My bad, I just remember us losing to Arsenal at Old Trafford and the long journey home

He did indeed give the pen away with a stupid handball. The same game where Dabizas had done the very same handball earlier which went unnoticed by the officials.

Ah, in the recess of my mind I remember Campbell making a mistake that led to a goal and him leaving for Arsenal the following season

Must cost him more than that to go to a match, there's bags of money in Harrogate and its lovely round there.

About the same when you factor in Pie, Pint etc. (or Pinot Grigio & Noodles as it now is :D).

Yes it is nice in Harrogate, Betty's, The Stray etc. Having moved up here 35 years ago I've sort of cottoned to all that.

£200.00 is a fortune for a feckin' flag though, regardless
