So you don't think the way Llorente held off his opponent was critical in opening the space up for Wanyama? You surprise me Bedfordspur, you're usually a shrewd judge.

No I do but I don’t think he meant it

He was trying to hit it with his wrong foot

He had an ok game at best

He had more shots than their whole team but I’d wager he ran less than every one on the pitch other than the keepers

Bringing in sonny change the dynamic again as w head someone who played head up and fast

Has someone hacked Bedford’s account? Or did Llorente push in front of him in the queue in the club shop?

Different ways of viewing what Llorente is about I suppose. I don't have too much of a problem with his lack of mobility because for me he more than makes up for it as a target man with physical presence, heading ability, deft touches (which admittedly do not always come off) and general hold-up play. Plus he actually has a decent scoring record* for us as a back-up striker.

Fans used to make allowances for Sheringham because although slow his vision, passing and positional play more than adequately compensated. Given we are unlikely to get a top striker to understudy Kane, the skills and physical presence Llorente brings to the table likewise compensate for his lack of movement.

*Edit: more than decent! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/tottenham-hotspur/top-scorers

Citys defence always seem to struggle against pace - Kompany/Otamendi etc will lap Llorente up

I think the key is to have a long out ball option. My mate thinks Dele would be good, I feel we would lose a lot doing that.

I favour Llorente with Moura, Son and Eriksen playing off him and Sissoko/Wanyama if Winks is unavailable. Unless Wanyama cannot do two in a week? FWIW his performance today was massive. If he can stay fit and on-point, he could be so important in this run-in. Another who I would love to see make me eat my words!!!

Had my earlier comments
I did say he did well there but it’s still a miss

Hahaha, seeing as you cannot back down mate, I think you phrased it as three missed chances he should’ve put away; that touch to create the volley was wonderful. He made his own chance and was very unlucky...there’s nothing wrong with admitting you might have misjudged that moment!

Just a few observations from yesterday worth taking along with us in the closing of the season.

I thought Walker Peters was really good, did his job defensively, but even more so contributed time and again to our attacking. There's a lot of football in him. Sure, his performances will vary somewhat, but like any player he needs consistency and he's still very young.

Juan Foyth! Sure, he's inexperienced and will still make some mistakes, he keeps the ball for too long at times, but his overall play yesterday was great. He's got a mean pass! Close to Alderweireld-esque. So many good passes yesterday. Such a clever footballer as well, he's clearly got a footballing brain. What a talent.

Great to see Wanyama back, he looked like his old self for the first time since we moved out of the old Lane! Maybe that's all it took. Big Vic just missed the Lane. :)

I thought Llorente did really well, deserved a goal. That volley in the crossbar especially. His header in the first half as well, I don't reckon a lot of players would even make a header from there dangerous at all.

Great to see Lucas get the first hat trick at the new Lane. Well deserved. Moved so well yesterday, eager to impress, kept working hard, took his goals so well. So fudging good to have people stepping up when your main man goes out injured.

Overall, although we were a tiny bit shaky at the back at times, it's hard to complain about yesterday's performance. Hoping we take the buzz from that into the City game. Get in! :D

With the pace we would still have an out ball option - just a slightly different one into the corners.

I just can’t see the long ball down the middle working, if it goes wrong it will come straight back at us - I’ve not seen llorente hold it up enough to think it would work.

Dele up top could be interesting, is his arm fit enough to take more of a battering playing deeper?

Agree on wanyama

My first game at new stadium yesterday (fudge yes!)

Similar to @Daisuk a few thoughts

- It was a training ground exercise, we were never threatened really, the fist half goals took the pressure off and game was easy after that.
- Foyth has promise, couple of mistakes, but also a couple of good recoveries
- KWP was ok, but had a couple of opportunities to get early cross in and didn't (disappointing because that is a flaw Trippier picked up as well)
- Great to see a full run from Wanyama and looked decent, did a bit of cover and cleanup
- Llorente not only had a good game, but was on the last defender (more than Kane does) a lot and quite a few of his teammates missed the opportunity to do an early/long cross, if anyone had looked up, he would have been in.
- Lucas was up for it, the hustle and then telling the fans to make more noise was brilliant, touch with his kid at end was cute as well.
- I disagree we looked shakey at back, we really just pushed up (weren't worried about them) even at end and that created the occasional moment.
- Sissoko was a monster again ..the engine on that guy ..

A good post that will tide us over until the Postbot logs on to tell us it was good to get the three points but we should have boosted our goal difference into treble figures.
