Harry Winks

didn't say he is a wimp, don't put words in my mouth.
you think he is as courageous as modric?
But is courage the right word in this contaxt? Absolutely no way Winks is short of courage.

Someone else offered the word 'bite.' Now I'd be happy to go along with that, but lets remember CMs as tough and hardbitten as Modric are almost as rare as Luka himself.

Courage... Another thing that Winks needs to get closer to Modric level.

Definitely thought he was courageous against Dortmund receiving the ball under pressure when they were pressing intensely in the first half. Quite a few situations where even a small error could have cost a potentially hugely consequential goal against.

Modric can (could) do that more, mainly because for most of his career when we've seen him he's been a better player.

This lad has been outstanding for us this season.
No, he's not Luka mkII or even close but he has been thrown in at the deep end and coped far better than we deserve.
Poch owns this lad big time.
He has performed 'above a beyond' for his club but we must never think he is the solution to our midfield woes. He must have better and more experienced people around him.

A bright spot in a patchy season.

I like his character!
Sadly I think he's just off the calibre we require as we move 'supposedly upwards'. He may have the potential but today I'm not sure.
He has like I say been outstanding and given everything in every game he played in and Spurs through and through.

So good to have him back. Thought he put in a very good performance. Did well defensively, tidy passing and calm and effective in possession when under pressure.
If he can stay injury free he can go on to great things for us. So assured and composed. And one of our own.

Him and Sissoko were very good! Especially at picking up 2nd balls. Whenever the ball was played over them, they were excellent in tracking back to pick up the 2nd ball. Crucial contributions from both of them.

I think there could be an unlikely partnership there.

Both fully committed players.

Do worry with Winks though...I'm sure even tonight he didn't look comfortable second half (injury wise). Hasn't he got something chronic that needs managing??

He has very good spacial awareness and can play a pass. Reads the game very well. Would love to see him develop his goal scoring and assists.

We have 5 players ahead of him to provide those, plus with the full backs it’s 7. Goals and assists are the least important thing in his current role/position in the side.

Sissoko helps him imo, cover for the only area where Winks lacks, which is athleticism. Sissoko is becoming a bit like Kante I think, in that he is doing the work of 2 players defensively for a lot of the game. That allows a player like Winks to thrive.

Those 2 are the first choice right now, even with Dier fit imo.
