Toby Alderweireld

I think he wants to stay and money might not even be the issue, Perhaps the length of the contract? maybe he wants 5 years and we are only offering 2 or 3

Absolute real and present risk of him being signed by either of these clubs. If they offer £25m and big big wages, then it absolutely will happen.
That's a £40-55m deal including wages, with no resale, and the Goons are supposedly skint?

What if Cheatski or Arse come in for him and he chooses to stay in London, does the club have no option but to accept?

Chelsea have a transfer ban.

They ain’t signing anyone.

If Arsenal pip us to the CL it’s possible.

Arsenal not getting CL is important for a number of reasons, the clubs finances being the main one.

Considering? My word. He’s our best CB along with Jan by a mile. Unless we have someone better in the squad (which we don’t) then we should be doing more than considering giving him a new contract.
My sentiments exactly, the only scenario I can think of where we didn’t want to negotiate was if he had overplayed his hand by trying to squeeze more after accepting an offer. This led to his prolonged absence post injury but our inability to sell him / his refusal to leave in the summer, continued good attitude in training and an understanding that we’d be cutting our nose off to spite our face has meant his reintegration into the team.
I know it’s the hope that kill you but if he does somehow sign a new deal if he pretty sure he would have turned down a few big money offers from Europe’s elite, genuinely think he’d strengthen any team in Europe. If he does go, domestically is bad enough as strengthening a rival but if he goes to another London club that would be unthinkable.
