Christian Eriksen

The amount of stick Eriksen has gotten while being forced to play central midfield for months is ridiculous.
He is not a central midfielder.
But he has done a job in there this season because of the injuries to Dier, Winks, Wanyama being crooked, Dembele getting injured and sold.
Tonight he played in the 3 in a 4231 for the first time since maybe November.
And he was world class again.

All the stupid theories about him not trying because he was leaving and him being not focused are gonad*s.
It reminds me about how everyone turned on Bale at one stage saying he wouldn't pass and wanted to do it all himself. This was playing for a AVB side whose whole tactics was don't attack, play safe and just give it to Bale.

And you know that how?

As for your Bale comment? I do not remember hearing that from anyone personally.

Agree.

Just looking at body language, I don’t think things are very rosy between him and a few of the players especially Kane

Eriksen has always had an inconsistent streak. It was usually always the winter he went through a bad patch for a couple of months. That, plus his lack of pace, are the two things that have/will stop him from becoming truly world class.

He had though, over the past 2 or 3 seasons, ironed out most of the mid-winter bad patch. So it's a shame that it has returned again this year. But I don't think it's anything particularly surprising.

I also think he plays best interchanging with a flourishing Alli, so I think Alli's injuries/world cup hangover indirectly affected him too
Yeah, he's so inconsistent that there are only 4 players that have managed more assists in the same amount of games in the premier League.

Much better -- not everything he tried came off but he got involved and did a lot of positive things with the ball. I don't care about him being a p*ssy when it comes to tackling, he's always been that way. But we need him to keep getting involved in the game and not be a passenger.

Good game overall.
He didn't do much different than previous games. It's just that we scored and won, and suddenly everything is OK. He's not been playing at his best but he's been at similar levels in previous games. But because we didn't win those, he was suddenly brick, uninterested, lazy and heading for Barcelona.

He had a couple of chances/half chances early doors, but kept showing up and the goal he scored could have easily gone the way of the missed chances. And he certainly bottled out of one chance where it looked like the keeper might clatter him!

For me his courage on the ball noticeably increased after the opening goal. Suddenly he was prepared to quickly take the positive option. I think it is down to confidence and trust. He has been a bit down, but also he has perhaps felt he has to protect the ball more due to not trusting the defensive unit quite as much. Whatever it is, I hope he takes his performance of that last 30 into the rest of our games. He should be trying things with impudence because he has rare talent.

He played up front, and made some runs. Previously he's been holding midfield together.

True though that is, I still believe he has been over-cautious in that role when it actually affords him more space to move around in and find killer passes. No doubt, when we have Winks to sit in next to Sissoko we can reactivate the front four and enjoy their best work:

This is complete gonad*s throughout.
