It was David Pleat that bought Dele to the club apparently...
Ah. So do you not define him as a Poch signing? And even if you get rid of Dele from that list, Son is good. Alder too.

But there is a LOT of dross. Got to wonder whether some of these signings were foisted upon Poch in the early days before he became magic.

Well I’d assume Poch would have had to ok it so he must of had some form of involvement. Personally think his signings have been hit and miss, and sounds like he can be overly anal about the type of player that he looks to bring to the club. Now that would be fine if every incoming player turned out to be a resounding success, but the jury is still out on some that’s for sure.....

Pathetic excuse to stick the boots in. We played well and deserved more, fudge off with the sell everyone, bottlers nonsense.

Bagging the brick out of the team and constantly leaping at the chance to moan is self-perpetuating. I won't buy into it.

We played well but lost, which is what happens too often in big games.

We could be 5th by the time we play on wednesday

Which is one place above where I reckon we’ll now finish.

Replacing Hugo with some one better won't be easy.

Disagree. Put Gazzaniga in goal and that’s alread a step up.

I wonder if Poch being in the stands had a significant impact the past two games. Obviously we’ll never know, but having him on the touch line, especially at the end of the 90 could have made a difference in terms of getting instructions to the players. Sigh...

What about the three games before that?

Those were different games.

I'll give you Son and Alder...If indeed he chose them..Davies some are saying is suspect...but him and Aurier were supposed to have moved us forward
and I don,t think that has happened. We have had some luck in as much as we had that money for Bale, that has helped us enormously in recent years but I,m not
so sure where the money is going to come from in the next year or so to bring players in and we may have lost out on a potentially winning Team by not backing it up with a couple of signings this
season..
Anyway as I pointed out during the summer window..Levy said the stadium would not impact on our signings, but it has.

In our situation with our players!!! were not breading that killing instinct. Whos backing Kane up?
We had a chance ...we lost it.

And the relevance of that to my post?

I was replying to a comment about imagine arsenal in that situation...

We attacked well today but really should have got at least one more goal

Thoughts...

1) I am tired of individual mistakes costing us not just goals but points. Lloris and Trippier huge culprits this season. Toby not bathing in glorious waters. I think Hugo owns some of the first too, another terrible clearance to their midfield...
2) I think whatever happens in the next 7 games, Poch needs to advance his own education and ruthless nature. He is once again being loyal and reliant on a core of players. If they blow this, he has to be big enough to identify the issues and take care of them swiftly.
3) I think Poch also has to consider bringing in a seasoned veteran who has won things!
4) Poch has overachieved supremely and will rightly enjoy several more years, but he must now challenge himself on aspects of his own work; it might not always be enough to trust his players, he might need to move a couple on who keep on flubbing their lines.
5) Words cannot express how tinkled off I am at Eriksen. Another poor performance. How many more will we have to tolerate?

Even that follow up to Kane's left footed shot which Alison palmed straight to Eriksen. Eriksen could have really made sure but pussied a half shot again which got bloked by Robertson. If Eriksen wants to play non contact football he should fudge off to Italy or France.

I was expecting defeat in this game today, I was just phucked off by it because we really could have won the game and certainly should not have lost it, but for some idiotic play at the end and bad finishing throughout.

HOWEVER

our next 5 league games:

palace (h)
huddersfield (h)
Emirates Marketing Project (a)
brighton (h)
west ham (h)

I think we saw enough positives in today's performance, coupled with our home results so far this season, to suggest we can get 4 out of 5 wins there. 12 points. That puts us on 73 points with 2 games to go.

Let's say the goons win tomorrow. After that, their next 5 games are:

everton (a)
watford (a)
palace (h)
wolves (a)
leicester (a)

Arsenal are terrible away from home. Win tomorrow puts them 2 ahead of us on 63 points. But from these 5 games, I'm gonna be generous and say they will win 1 of the away games, beat palace, 2 draws and 1 defeat. 8 additional points gives them 71 points with 2 games to go.

Utd, level on points with us currently. Next 5:

wolves (a)
west ham (h)
everton (a)
city (h)
chelsea (h)

I think they will beat w.ham and chelsea, draw with City and get 4 points from the 2 away games. And I think that's quite generous to be honest, they have been very lucky recently and could easily lose both those away games. But, being generous, I put them on 72 points with 2 games to go.

Chelsea -- 1 point behind us currently. Next 5:

brighton (h)
west ham (h)
liverpool (a)
burnley (h)
utd (a)

I give them 3 home wins and 2 away defeats, which would put them on 69 points. Maybe they could get a point at Utd, I don't see them getting anything at Anfield.

So, imo, it will look something like this, with 2 games to go:

Spurs 73 points, Utd 72 points, goons 71 points, Chelsea 69 points.

And then we go away to Bournemouth and finish at home to Everton. IMO, a win v Everton will end up being enough for top 4.

TL;DR -- win our home games and we will finish in the top 4.

We could easily have been sitting here posting about a great performance and win. Sissoko, Alli, Rose all clean through to win it. So we have to be ballanced. Singling out Hugo is not fair. We win and lose as a team, and it wasn't all that easy a catch if you watch it full speed. Collectively we didn't defend well enough at the end, the cauldron got to us. Poch likes emotion, plays on it, but he needs to make us ice cold, playing the game not the occasion. When the pressure is on, this team can at times be weak. The manager has to isolate that. Has to take away the pressure and get the side to focus on playing regardless of what is going on around them. Play the game not the occasion.
