How does this sequel compare to the original series from the 1980s?

I watched Hunter Killer recently and then The Hunt for Red October the other night, so maybe some more serious submarine drama is in order!
Original was a film , This is a series so padded out more with added story’s on the shore.

Worth a watch . Personally enjoyed it. Must of been nerve shredding serving on them boats.

The original was actually a tv series as well - with a film version which gained more popularity

Wiki: It has been exhibited both as a theatrical release and as a TV miniseries (1985), in several different home video versions of various running times, and in a director's cut version supervised by Petersen in 1997.

Why are everyone saying true detective season 3 is all that? It's boring as hell, the characters are lame, the acting is brick, and the story is like its for teenagers, ffs. On episode 6, and it's just nothing so far. When is it going to pick up?

I’m on the last two episodes, so please NO SPOILERS :)

Don’t worry, no spoilers from me.

I didn’t even watch S3.

Not after I read that review of the crap ending where they killed the main guys off with 1 episode to go. Seemed a waste of time to me!

I expected nothing less you sod :)

I know I am about 7 years behind the curve, but yesterday I watched the first 3 episodes of GoT- and it was brilliant, I am totally hooked. The plan is now to watch the next 64 episodes between now and April 15 when season 8 comes out

It is a excellent series enjoy

Just finished Sunderland Til I Die. Excellent (apart from the tiny criticism that they didn’t shoot the actual football well).

Watched Ricky Gervais's new comedy on Netflix, very good i thought ,but its something you need to watch a couple of times to get a better feel of it....the scenes with his dad are very funny(went through something similar with my dad)could have been a film really as it did have a proper ending of sorts,so not sure whats going to happen if there was a second series.

Ah, you're in for such a treat! Right up there with Sopranos, in my opinion. Enjoy! :D

Anyone seen Ricky Gervais's latest? After Life?
