Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Everyone here seems mightily certain that Mike Dean said something. I don't rule it out, and indeed I have speculated myself as to what it could have been, but has anyone stopped to consider that maybe Poch just lost his brick, turned to walk off and then decided that he had to have one last pop?

It's reading like a conspiracy forum here!

I will break my code here and tell you I know for a fact he did say something, along the lines which were rumoured. No conspiracy whatsoever other than the FA/Prem silence with regards to Dean. Of course, there is a can of worms for them if they cop to it, but I think a fine and a formal warning would’ve been the right way of dealing with it given apologies offered and all that...

It seems very strange to me that Pochettino hasn't come out and let the World know what it was that Dean said that made him so angry.

"I reacted badly because the referee said to me 'xxxxxxxx'. I now realise that I shouldn't have reacted in such a way publically but should instead have reported this to the referee's body after the game.

I have always respected the match officials. However that respect should be a two way thing and I don't think it is reasonable for a match official to be able to behave in this way. I apologise for the spectacle that I caused on TV and will learn from this, I just expected better behaviour from an impartial match official.

I am disappointed in receiving a two match touchline ban, especially in light of the fact that I have never been in trouble before for my behaviour towards the match officials and regularly seeing similar or worse behaviour from the staff of other teams not being punished in this same way. I have a history of always respecting the referee and, unlike many other managers, I have never questioned the impartiality of the match officials in interviews, even when decisions have gone against my team. If this is a new standard being applied then I welcome this and look forward to seeing these same standards being applied to all, no matter who the individual or club that they work for.

While accepting my punishment gracefully I would appreciate an explanation from Mr Dean of why he felt it necessary to make his original comments of 'xxxxxxx' that triggered my reaction and clarification from the referees association on whether this is considered to be acceptable behaviour form a match official".

There you go Poch - I have written a statement for you :)

There are two things to remember.

1) we are desperately trying to get into the stadium and the Prem/FA hold the keys. They can get clamy quickly.
2) refs band together. Right now it does us no favours.

Horrible that he has to be political but he does (to be clear, this post is 100% speculation on my part)...

That’s the sort of level headed thinking that has no place on this forum!

When you say you know for a fact something is said, and you have a code that wouldn’t normally admit to such can you say how this is without getting yourself or anyone into trouble? Just hadn’t read you mention anything before.

I’ve also found it ironic that the only time I actually had some proper itk I didn’t reveal it on here in case it affected my source! It was only a day earlier than an official sponsor announcement anyway!

This is the way it works, if you make trouble for the BIG people in charge they behave in any petty way they can to make it hard for you, transparency and equality are great buzz words for pretending you are dealing with a situation, but I suspect in their arrogance the FA will ignore the problem and rely on the media to play ball.

Yep, I’m probably a bit slow on the uptake on this one, but the stadium situation only occurred to me yesterday.

I do wonder why this "have to play 5 games in the stadium or stay at wembley" has only come about now...where was this 'rule' spelt out before?

Also, how many 50-50s did we NOT get given in the NLD...? Hmmmm....

On the subject of refs, I think it has been noticeable the quality gulf between the CL games and PL games.

Not saying the CL refs are perfect, just don't find myself screaming at game based on the numerous obviously one sided decisions we see in PL.

Dean is a particularly smarmy qunt. Can't stand the bloke and would have liked Poch to "out" him. But as Steff says above we have to be careful here.

I thought our ref for Chelsea was ok as well to be fair. He let a couple of early challenges that would normally be called as fouls on Son go and I was thinking WTF, but then he continued that throughout the game for both sides. After about half an hour the players got used to it and stopped throwing themselves to the ground.

Shows up Dean and the Arsenal ref for the useless, bias, corrupt fudges they are.

I think that was always an unwritten thing? I saw it mentioned a while ago.

Also, the FA and PL have been very lenient with us over the new ground, they could have been well within their rights and told us no in Jan.

If they have just decided now to have a 5 game cut off, I don’t think that’s unfair either.

Actually didnt like him at all. He set the tone that Chelsea could get away with whatever they liked, and they did.

They were pushing, shoving, manhandling and niggling every time we got the ball.

Its sad that we didnt have the ability to handle it, and we let it get to us and stop us - but Chelsea were basically cheating and the ref made it perfectly acceptable.

Had he called up those early instances, Rudiger particularly was at it, then we might have had more of a game of football instead of the dirge that was served up.

Again, my stadium comments were pure speculation in relation to all this, but it makes sense. There has to be a very good reason as to why we are not taking the specific point any further.

I do wonder whether Poch will appeal the actual suspension in the hope of a reduction to one match. I have to believe he will.

This whole thing has been a very sorry affair.
