Harry Winks

To me, players like Winks and Sissoko could learn a lot from Kane .. (his main thing is get it on target, worry about power/swerve/etc. as a secondary, make the keeper work)

Eriksen is our only real late runner (consistent) into bow, it would be helpful if Winks/Sissoko could put a shot on target coming from deep.

I still want to see Dier and Winks in a run of games

That’s not a criticism of sissoko by the way but just think there is a real blend with those two

Hopefully they will get a couple of matches as a partnership during the international break this month. They are definitely England's best CM pairing

What do you mean?
winks plays it too safe, not at the level where he is as confident where he should be in setting up plays for attacks. with modric you sensed that something exciting was around the corner. winks gets out of tight situations well but plays it safe and often ends up with a lateral move .

GHod, I hate it when Winks gets compared to Modric. It's just not fair and it reeks of hindsight.

When Modric signed for us he was 23 and already holding down a place in the first team of a CL club. Admittedly, he was in a lesser league which allowed him, like Eriksen, to rack up plenty of experience early in his career. Regardless, he wasn't trusted in Spur's mighty centre midfield -- I think it was during his second season with us that Redknapp finally allowed him to play CM and built the side around him. I knew he was good, but one of the world's best midfielders? I didn't see that until his third season with us. the one where he tried to move to Chelsea.

Winks turned 23 in September and his last year has been buggered by injury. Yet he still shows enough, to me, to make me believe that he'll become a damn fine player. He's not yet capable of the final-third play that Modric managed at his best with us. But I'm not going to hold that against him. Winks also plays a little further back in our system, sometimes without the luxury of a covering DM, so has to play a less risky game. His learning has all been done in one of the top leagues in world football. Oh, and against Real/Barca in the Champions' League.
