Victor Wanyama

That may be Poch putting Llorente on

This 'curveball' is no longer surprising or sadly helping us. Not Llorente's fault, a case of the square peg in round hole.
Wanyama I think will sadly take a similar route to Dembele the end of the season.

It won't be sad if we can get a couple of decent young central midfield prospects in.. Havertz or Goretzka would be amazing.

I'm not willing to give up on Big Vic just yet mind you. He could be very important in this final run, if he can stay fit.

No way you can blame him for their goal. Sanchez screwed the pooch on that one. Wanyama was never going to catch Ramsey easily starting so far back..

Where am I blaming him?
No, your wright, Sanchez all the way.
He just does no longer possess the pace to impact the game in those recovery situations.
I like "Sanchez screwed the pooch on that one"

Goretzka is starting most games for Bayern now and is a key player

haivertz id never heard of until a few weeks ago but have seen enough of him on video clips and highlights to see that he is proper prospect.... said it before but for me he looks like a young Ozil but with an engine to run. Would possibly be a good replacement for Eriksen

Apologies, I thought referring to him being 'left behind' by Ramsey was you apportioning blame.. Glad it wasn't

Pace isn't the key attribute for Wanyama reallly, it's his strength, guile and ability to pass better than you expect.

I'm keen to see how he goes in a few more games. He's only 27 don't forget.

I think he has a chronic physical problem like Kevin and the aforementioned Dembele sadly.

The kicker here is they are worth SFA.

As an occasional squad player, maybe. Way too risky to rely on him after such a serious lay off.

Yeah. Basically take Wanyama's place (potentially) while we actually buy a player (shock!) for the first team. Have to see how he comes back from injury I suppose, but he seemed to be Poch's pick of the young midfielders in pre-season, was making the bench a bit in competitive games iirc.

In fairness Wanyama wasn’t that far off Ramsey. He made up a good bit of ground, fast, and caught Ramsey up just as he had rounded Lloris and had taken the shot. A more match fit Wanyama might just have made it.

I thought he did ok yesterday, certainly his is best post injury performance and assumed the sub was pre planned due to fitness / injury prevention. Don’t really see a place for two non creative midfielders in home games, especially if we are chasing games but he would be competing for the same place as Dier or Sissoko for me. We really need to sign an experienced midfielder who can dictate the tempo of the game.

Danny Rose has many qualities but a centre mid he isn’t, tried to do to much dribbling in his audition yesterday and if we really are in an emergency situation I’d have thought jan would have been the better option.

It as frustrating as Ramsey isn’t the quickest but no blame on Wanyama and wasn’t worth a red card tackle. At first viewing I did wonder if Lloris could have done a big sprint out and get to the ball but it was a split second decision with high risk if he got it wrong. To be fair Ramsay took it well, although they are quicker I could have seen Agbaumeyang or Lacazette missing it with that much time to think. It still goes in the ‘gifted goal that gave inferior opposition a foothold in the game’ column for me.
