The Goon Thread - Officially Second In A One Horse Race

I think the manager is paid to do a job and is the glue that keeps a team together, the team is a mould of himself. May sound bias but exactly wat Poch does at Spurs with less resources, does not moan but has a plan and the players have to buy it. Emery poor

Yes, but Poch cleared house of peope that wouldn't buy into the vision.

Emery/Sarri are perfect examples of it being obvious of high profile players in the club that don't buy in, and probably believe they will outlast the manager anyway.

Their record since the 4-2 is mad, they are shocking.

I don't get the Emery hype, I said it ages ago. Terrible side

Even that was a blip in form for them, they were poor leading up to it too.

Poor so far, but he deserves time. You dont replace a manager, routine, mentality etc build up over 20+ years over night.

Not that Im saying Emery IS particularly good, rather that any manager following Wenger will need time before that can really be judged.

I think he has made a lot of the right moves, I think his transfers are hit and miss, and I think he needs to start imposing his style more now that there has been time to adjust.

I would say LOT of his transfers have been Miss...

At this point Id agree.

He had a lot of work to do in one summer, its not like Wenger left him the most balanced (or good) squad, and I think he did his best.

He'll need to do a lot more this summer as well though to have the squad shaping up more in his image.

Mercifully for him, he'll have a transfer kitty commensurate with a task of that size.
Oh, that's right.
He will not.

Poch would have killed for his transfer budget back in his first season. He’s already spunked 70+m and that’s after they spent that much again on their best player PEA a few months before he arrived.

Emery obviously needs time. This sh.it doesn't happen overnight, especially following a legacy manager. His Seville teams were pretty good.

The thing is future spending is very much curtailed and it's (one of) our job to keep them firmly in the EL, as unless he has some magic powers like Poch, they're gonna go nowhere slowly.

And as for Ozil, I wouldn't mind him becoming the Arsenal version of Jack Rodwell at Sunderland.
