Christian Eriksen

If Ramsey who's 28 and getting a 4 year deal at £400k pw on a free transfer to Juve, I can't see why any player of Eriksen's quality wouldn't be tempted to see out his contract - a 5 year deal, £100m, no brainer.

Can’t believe the type of money available.
Blows most clubs out of the water!
Eriksen has earned or blessing imo

My only worry is him going to another English club, if he stayed and give us another year like he has this one then I would not mind. It should mean two more seasons of champs league football, give us a chance to get a long term replacement lined up and he cost us barely anything and will have given 6 years good service to the club.

I think Ramsay’s a decent player but I’m amazed at those wages, even on a free. He’s not exactly a superstar in terms individual honours, doesn’t have a commercial profile that sells shirts and is moving to a completely different league. Couldn’t blame Eriksen it even Toby for seeing out their deals if this is the ballpark. If this is the benchmark Kane could command a million a week on a free!

It can’t be good for squad harmony either, if I’m looking at Sanchez or Ozil being the top earner at my club, I’d expect them to be a level above everyone else, winning matches with individual brilliance, let alone not even making the first team.

I guess this is where things become difficult as levy would want the 100m+ for him, so as unthinkable as it would seem footballing / personality wise that could mean us forcing him out.

It might be a case of him signing a new contract, which allows us to keep him for another year on the understanding (or contract clause) that if Barca come calling we'll let him go if their valuation meets our valuation. I think he would like to win something with us, play in the new digs, and have crack at Spain. It's an ideal destination as you approach 30.

Or levy could do one of his gentleman’s agreements...

If he signed a new deal, what would you set as a fair valuation, i.e. adequate compensation for us but within a level he would believe Barca would be prepared to pay?

That is the issue. Levy wouldn't want to put that in. Because it might limit what we could achieve. But if its too hign Eriksen wouldn't take it. So it needs to be more subtle.... If an offer from Bara or RM comes in that meets our valuation you have our word we'll let you go becuase you'll only have 2 more years left on your contact anyway. Something to that effect. Basically a short extension to his contract.

I hope I am wrong, I really do, but I simply do not see him signing a new contract with us. I think he wants to win trophies and earn a big bucks, and he knows he can do that elsewhere. I hope I am wrong.

We will/may have to find a way forward without him!
It might be as simple as he want a change of scenery.
All the whinging and whining which I quite understand will not make him change his mind.
Personally I don’t think it can be purely money.

The club will be all over this!

I agree with the money part, IF he was to move i think it would be more about winning things. he is about to turn 27, one of the best players in the world and i would imagine he wants to look back and see the medals he has won.

I think maybe if you separated Eriksen from Spurs and Pochettino you would not necessarily have the same excellent player!

If Eriksen wants to win trophies all he has to do is try, he showed how easily he can win a game yesterday, he has the talent to make the other 21 players on the pitch irrelevant.

At a certain age they want “to win things and have an easier and wealthier life at the same time.
Thats why they go to Barcelona and win the Copa del Rey.
If that fails China

Class is class mate and Eriksen has it in spades, of course he has a great manager helping him but he would shine anywhere.
