From here on out, I'd really like Llorente to play permanently facing Lloris.

It doesn't matter where he is - on the goal-line, in the box, wherever. Never turn towards goal, lad. Only madness and frustration awaits there.

Just back into the defenders and lay it off for someone else - that's where you're absolutely ace. :D

Other than that, Winkseh was great. Sonny was great. Sanchez was the best of our defensive bunch, and Sissoko was quietly composed.

Unless he is in our own box!! :)

5 goals, 2 assists in the last 7 games

Good stuff. Will take that result all day long. Tottenham of old stays 0-0.

2nd place for a few hours. Another win without Kane and Alli, but another week nearer their return. 10pts clear of 4th.

Oh and yes...."Draws? We don't do stinking draws"
It's the NFL connection. Americans don't understand draws.

I think today demonstrated just howl limited Lamela is. He has no right foot, he takes too many touches and requires too much time and space. He is okay against sides that play and when matches are stretched, but offers little against teams that sit back. Trippier was better today, but again offers nothing going forward. Davison Sanchez was much better than last week. it really looked as if he had been told to put himself about a bit more today.

Frustrating but again we come home happy. An earlier goal would be a nice treat though, Spurs! Maybe against Leicester?
We were a Moura header away from a very different game. He made a difference on Wednesday but I wasn’t overly impressed with him today.
Winks MOTM for me I think, again. Close though with Sanchez. Good also from Verts and Sissoko.
Lamela frustrates yet but for the bar he’d have scored.
Lloris made a couple of crucial saves as well. His good games get overlooked sometimes.
And did my eyes deceive me or did I see Llorente tracking back and pressing one of the Saudi Sportswashing Machine players?

Second in the table for now. Unlikely to stay that way this weekend but it’s important psychologically - it shows how close we might get. Happy days.

Yup, think Lloris’ lack of mentions here just shows how much we take him for granted sometimes - saved us with his speed and decisiveness off the line 3 times, in a way that the vast majority of keepers in the league wouldn’t have done. Credit where credit’s due. I still love you Hugo.

He did put in the little clipped cross for Moura’s missed header.

Ive mentioned it before (I think) but it really struck me again today.

Player of massive potential, unrealised
Excellent at defending
Does very little in attack
Popular with team mates and fans
Works his socks off

Lamela = Aaron Lennon

Nominations for Sissoko, Winks, Vertonghen and Sanchez, are we missing anyone?

Is that a wind up?!:D

Bloody hell some people, Im hoping its just the ironic "Sissoko is the best ever" flimflam thats going round here and not genuine.

Thought Vertonghen showed what Rose is missing, some excellent crosses from him.
Sanchez is beastly, batted Rondon away like a fly.
Winks keeps it ticking, he seems to be asserting himself more which can only be good.
Son was the only player we had who looked like scoring.
I fudging hate watching Benitez teams "play". Attack vs defence for the entire game made for a bricky viewing experience.

I don't think that he does require time and space. He is one of the best in the squad on the ball in tight spaces. He is guilty of taking one touch too many but that is always the risk if you try to dribble past players. You need players who try that though, if you want to break deep set teams down.
