but he'd consider a Brazilian English centre forward though.

Anyway i take what people say about what AVB likes and doesn't like with a pinch of salt. People were continuoiusly claiming AVB's plan at Chelski was to get rid of the old guard and replace them with younger players but AVB himself stated one of his main transfer targets as Chelski boss was a 30 year old Scott Parker....a typical English midfielder as you like to say.

That is interesting (heartening).....source?

That is good to read. I'm hoping that AVB can coach Parker to a slight higher level than the very good heights hge reached last year. I still think there's a bit more in Parker's locker and we saw good glipses in the first half of last season.

Interesting that Swansea seem to be interested in Kenwyn Jones...

They ain't a long ball side, are they? Interesting watching MOTD tonight. The Carlton Cole sub grabbed the point for WHU. OK, they were not exactly playing it on the floor before but...

Whilst I'm not sure exactly about Jones I do think an option to 'mix it up' is often essential. Even Arsenal have Giroud and when their pacey players are around it's not easy to default to sitting very deep to stop their pacy players running beyond the back four; now you have to worry about Arsenal crossing it into Giroud.

Imagine if Giroud had pace and a better first touch

IMO It would be useful to have a backup striker we can bring on for the last 15-20 mins against "park the bus" sides - personally I'd rate jones as a cheap target man option for this.

However, I reckon AVB has more sophisticated plans than this so doubt it would happen.

I don't think we do, IMO teams are sitting back on us and what we need is a #10 that can unlock and make smart runs inbetween the opposing defensive midfielders and defenders as well as make smart runs in and around beyond the main striker. Not sure Dempsey or Defoe is that player. I'd like to try Dembele further forward, with Hudd and Parker in midfield, a good chance to try this Sunday in the FA Cup IMO.

Maybe, apart from the point that the FA cup match would also be the perfect time to give Dembele a game off.

Experienced head.
Consistent goal scoring record.
Played with Onomah.
Will want to get away from Steve Bruce.

No brainer.

Is he still playing? I remember him being bothersome at Sunderland, way back around the time of the beach ball incident - but I thought he was like 30 back then. :D
