Mousa Dembele

Obviously Dembele is very good at dribbling, but also shows how stats dont really tell you everything when Matic and Delph are apparently the next two best dribblers in the league....

Agreed... would like to know how many of those dribbles resulted in a forward pass let alone a shot, as Dembele seems to have become more and more risk averse over the years... 10 goals from 242 appearances seems a rather poor haul for someone of his immense talent, when even little Luka managed to chip in with 17 in 159... to think that I once hoped that Dembele would become as devastating a goalscoring midfielder as Yaya.

It should be called "getting past an opponent with the ball", not dribbling.

Stats can be misleading on many occasions, it usually depends on what the user wants to suggest.

Morgan Schneiderlin anyone as a replacement for Dembele? Not doing anything at Everton, worked well with Poch at Soton. Short term solution? Poch could reawaken his career.

This morning he's flown to China so he's gone now.

Will be interesting to see if we look to bring someone in or whether we feel will be okay with Dier and Wanyama returning imminently.

Obviously wanyama return is subject to likely breakdown within two weeks and then being out for the season.

Dier was due back this week I thought

Wanyama is pointless

If he is close to return, we can’t sell him if Sissoko is injured.
Looked to me that we absolutely played United off the park with Winks and Eriksen anchoring our midfield.

Dier should be back sooner rather than later. Sissoko injury doesn't change much. If one medium term fairly predictable injury changes our plans for the transfer window the original plan was no good.

Indeed. I think the only way we should be signing a central midfield player this month is if the opportunity to purchase one of our long term targets comes up. Of course I have no idea who our long term targets are, although I have seen press links to Berge, N'Dombele, Dacoure and De Jong. Out of those players De Jong is the one I would like most, but I think is also the least likely due to Barcelona's interest.

As I have said before in this thread I would quite like to see us get Philip Billing from Huddersfield, he could play a part right away and IMO has the attributes to progress a lot further, I think he also counts as home grown which is a bonus.

The only short term stop-gap that I think might be possible is Rabiot on loan. If he signs a pre-contract deal to play for Barcelona then I wonder if it would be possible to get him in on loan in the interim seeing as how he has completely burnt his bridges at PSG? Although Poch doesn't seem like the kind of manager who would take a 6 month stop gap.

This. Just a pity that our Forwards didn’t wear their goal scoring boots.

Completely agree, if we havent scouted him and he isnt on the list then dont buy.

Minimum cost would be £20 mil, more than likely eats a CL place and we will be stuck with them like Nkoudou.

Dembele going means Foyth into CL squad, for any more incomings one of Vorm, Wanyama, Llorente need to go
