Bale. Could we? Would we? Should we?

Still think he has Utd written all over him.

Did the moment he left, havent changed my mind since.

Outside chance of PSG as a Neymar replacement (swap)?
Sadly I agree, a Welshman taking the Giggs 11 shirt and one of the few clubs who can write off 300k a week for a player who may not be fit for half the games. Even if we had the cash to spunk there’s other areas of the pitch where we need to upgrade / fill as a priority.

This was always the thing for me. Where does he play for us? - And thats aside from the obvious cost and risk considering his career long injury state.

And the only answer that ever made sense to me was as a Kane replacement. Nothing else.

Needless to say, thats a big no thanks from me.

He can go to Utd, it wouldnt bother me in the least.

Assuming Bale was fit, then he would (imo) play at the tip of the diamond, which seems to be Poch's system for a lot of games this season. Eriksen and Dele would play on the sides of the diamond (they have both done this at different times anyway) and then Dier as the holder at the base.

So, for example:

----------------lloris
new RB----sanchez----toby---rose
----------------dier
--------eriksen-------dele
----------------bale
------------kane----son

Don't think it'd ever happen, but that'd be a great team imo.

I actually think Modders would have been the one worth busting our structure, it’s an area where he’d bring us up a level, a role model for the likes of Winks and Skipp and seems an unassuming sort whilst rarely gets injured / relies on physicality to control games the way he does. But then he went and won balloon d’or and made himself impossible to get!

I dotn know, not sure on the balance myself.

Initially I just imagined the regular 4-2-3-1 with him taking the right of the 3, which means Eriksen or Lamela on the bench most likely.

Which immediately sets the question marks.

Hence, for me, him at the top instead of Kane was the most natural fit for him. Though obviously unsacceptable.

Though aside from the "where will he play" line, the "will he play" line was alway my primary "Why bother?"

We all know he'll only be available fleetingly, and to bring him in at such expense would likely be a compromise too far.

Had mixed feelings on him too, though far less against that Bale.

I love Winksy, and Id hate the idea of bringing in a short term player that will ultimately impede the lad.

That said, Im a massive fan of Modric, one of my all time favourites, love watching him play.

THAT said, would he still be up to it? And if so for how long?

All a bit confusing for me that one, to be honest.

In the team I put up as an example, we'd basically be dropping Sissoko to play Dele and Eriksen deeper (one of them plays deeper anyway, with the diamond) and taking his place with Bale. That seems like a big upgrade to me, but it'd require us to buy a right-back capable of defending in a 4 without Sissoko covering, so not Aurier or Trippier imo.

We're not really using Harry as a lone number 9 this season, Son or Moura have been his strike partner in most games. Bale could also occupy the role of Kane's strike partner and then we'd play a more physical midfielder with the freed up space.

You are right though, if he has ongoing fitness issues then it's hardly worth it. We need to be rid of the crocks we have at the moment, getting shot of Dembele is a good start. We don't want to buy any more. But if Bale was fit...

You dream of Aurier!!!!!
I think in that line up, he’s the better option.

It’s a balls out, scare the brick out of the opposition, with its pace and attacking quality, line up.

Would need Aurier on his full potential, and Wanyama to be resurrected. But the bigger hold up would be £300k a week Bale though in fairness!

But that side is fudging awesome isn’t it!!??We’d win everything!
