Ben Davies

Hes having a very poor season isn’t he, real shame as last year I thought he was very good. Ultimately though I think we need 2 first choice full backs (seems Rose is finished).

He's been poor, but did OK against Chelsea last weekend. I don't like some aspects of his game, certainly he doesn't play the ball first time often enough and as a result gets caught in possession when pressed (happened today and early on in most games).

LB for me is probably the second or third priority for us behind a Toby replacement and CM.

RB? I think Tripps is a good back up but not good enough for a first choice IMO.

When you go back 3 years and we had fit and in form Walker, Rose, Davies and Tripps it really does show up this current situation.

I mean that more in relation to RB than LB, Davies has been improving as the season has progressed, the two regulators on the other side have been erratic though, what has KWP got to do to get a chance?

I think Davies is recovering a bit of form on the defensive side, he was solid enough against Leicester. But what is up with him going forwards this season? He seems to have lost confidence with the ball at his feet. Last season he showed much more quality in attacking positions and with his general touch and passing. Hopefully he gets back to that.

It might be down to tactics, or just the type of players we have on the right side compared to the left, but we do seem to be more direct when on the right, and more passing and build up play on the left.
Or maybe I'm just imagining this.

He was great going forward against Chelsea. Wasn’t used as much as he could have been but he was available so many times it was excellent
Vs arse he was awful like most players
Yesterday he was back to his normal functional self IMO

I think Davies and Tripps would be ideal back ups for some top class wing backs, players with some pace and flair, Davies doesn't really add anything going forward and its only Tripps deliveries that are of benefit to us.

I do feel we need to go back to 3 at the back when everyone is fit because we are being undone down the wings with the switch time and time again.

Thought he was poor at the start of the season but has recovered a bit of form lately. Was very good against Chelsea, Inter and yesterday IMO.

Always thought Rose was a better option when he’s on it but, let’s be fair, Rose spends more time off it than on it.
