PSG DENY DE JONG REPORTS

Paris Saint-Germain have denied reports suggesting the club are set to spend €75million to bring Ajax midfielder and Barcelona transfer target Frenkie de Jong to the Parc des Princes in January.

The Ligue 1 leaders published a statement to discredit the claims in L'Equipe: "There are many examples of unbalanced treatment whose objective is only to spread a harmful atmosphere.

"Faced with the disinformation orchestrated by L'Equipe and their tireless attempt to undermine our image, PSG, the most popular and successful club in France, reaffirms its desire to move forward with dialogue only in good faith."

BARCA DESPERATE FOR KANE

Barcelona are hellbent on landing £200m-rated Harry Kane next summer, according to the Star on Sunday.

With current Nou Camp hitman Luis Suarez nearing 32 and struggling with long-term knee problems, the Spanish giants’ hunt for a world-class replacement has begun.

And Tottenham star Kane, who faces Barcelona in the Champions League this Tuesday, is first choice on their shortlist.

Spurs are desperate to keep the England skipper ahead of moving to the new White Hart Lane but the severe delays in finishing their stadium – and inevitable spiralling costs as a result – leave them vulnerable to any bid of £150m-plus for Kane.

SPURS INTERESTED IN YOUNGSTER

Tottenham are interested in signing Netherlands midfielder Tonny Vilhena, according to reports in Italy.

The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with Roma and Corriere dello Sport say the Serie A side are preparing a swap deal which would send Rick Karsdorp back to Feyenoord.

But CalcioMercato say Spurs are ready to offer competition for his signature after monitoring the box-to-box midfielder throughout the Eredivisie campaign.

The combative Vilhena has already won 15 caps for the Netherlands during their recent resurgence and is thought to be considered a possible replacement for Moussa Dembele.

Dembele looks set to leave Spurs with his contract due to expire at the end of the season, and Vilhena could be high on Pochettino's list of midfield targets.

Well this ones new, interesting sort of target - anyone know anything about him?

You'd hope that CL football would sway a few potential January transfer targets.

We aren’t signing anyone in January. If foyth can’t even get in the Champions League squad as we have too many players then we’re not going to sign anyone. We’d have to get rid of 2 before we signed someone I guess Walker-peters on loan would be one potential but not sure he is in the cap.

I can't see us letting Toby go in January unless UTD offered upwards of £70 million. We need him to get through this season and we should just write him off as a loss come the summer. I'd rather see us take the hit than end up fudging up our season just as our players are starting to hit form. I don't doubt that Poch has probably already said similar to Levy and Toby, nor do I think that Toby would agitate for a move during the window.

Marco Asensio transfer: Tottenham 'make approach' for Real Madrid star
Reports in Spain suggest Asensio is keen to stay in Madrid, but Tottenham have recently made an approach

Tottenham have set their sights on Real Madrid playmaker Marco Asensio ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports in Spain.

Marca claim Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants the 22-year-old to strengthen his squad after failing to land any new players in the summer.

Asensio is one of many Real Madrid stars who have struggled this season since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and they reportedly could allow him to leave.

But Marca say that an initial approach from Spurs has been rejected by the player because "his only goal is to succeed at Real Madrid".

Liverpool are reportedly set to renew their interest in Asensio after apparently missing out in a £160m mega bid in the summer.

Their recent struggles could tempt Real Madrid to part with the former Mallorca man this time around, and if that is the case then it appears he could be set for the Premier League.

Klopp is said to be extremely keen on the Spanish international, who would give their title challenge a boost in the second half of the season.

But Spurs have also not given up their hopes of catching the top two, whilst he would also give their Champions League chances a boost if they can dramatically reach the last 16.

Serie A side Juventus are another big club linked with Asensio, with demand set to be high if he decides to leave.
