Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Right.
In this Brexit/Trump world we live in, I can see that sitting politely and reading some of this TOTAL BOLLOX and "going high when they go low" is not going to work. So...

1) Ginolaginolaginola - seriously. Stop it. I know you enjoy the schtick, but it's boring now. If it isn't a schtick, and you do actually believe the total cobblers you've been spouting tonight, then I for one think it is an ignorant POV.

2) People carping on about Foyth over Toby. In case you've all forgotten, Toby has had TWO BIG INJURIES RIGHT AROUND THIS TIME OF THE SEASON the last two. Now, unless you either live in his shorts or are the coaching staff, you will have NO IDEA how tired he might've been. He has played A LOT of football this season. He needed a rest. Foyth played well again, save, the mistake which we didn't deal with well. I look forward to every fudging winger in here licking his arse in a season or two when he is the dog's gonads.

3) Aurier and Sissoko both looked tired to me, and both just played two of the more intense and good games of their careers this past week. They are not elite elite. They were mentally and physically a touch off the pace.

4) Complaints about Alli should be prefaced by the fact that Dean is a clam who allowed him to have the brick kicked out of him. I thought he was a warrior.

5) Yes, Poch should've made two subs at 2-2. He didn't. We lost. I am unhappy but I wager he is even unhappier. Yet some of the total RUBBISH which comes flying out afterwards is embarrassing. To all who engage, go and start the rival to Arsenal TV. Actually don't. Please.

6) Disappointed? Absolutely. Going to go into some fudging melt down, knees flying, like a melt? Nah. Be brave and get a pair of fudging gonadS!!!! This manager, when he can deal with a full deck, will deliver and already has been.

Am I now guilty of over-reacting the other way?
Possibly.
Should I mind my 'p's and 'q's?
Nah.
Should I 'respect the match thread and that people are emotional and get angry?'
Maybe.
But in that case, respect the fact that I sometimes get sick and fudging tired with the weak-kneed flip-flopping that erupts after these moments.

Fire away.

But know that even though I also felt the manager did not react quickly enough subs-wise, I am not going to go apebrick about it. It was only this past Wednesday against Inter fudging Milan when he was a subs GENIUS. Remember that.
Great post Steff.

I hope Poch and the team beat the cnuts next week in the EFL cup. Of course even if they do there will be posters claiming that’s not a crunch game.

The only way we can lose that is if we get a draw. Extra time going into the Christmas madness would be a disaster.

On point 2

Southampton at home Wed seems a better time to rest 1 half of the best CB pairing we have, not away to Arsenal.

Hell, give him the whole week off

We have won lots of big games too. We only lose to the bigger teams now really. So they are always going to be “big games” we lose.

I never said we didn’t Rob, but we tend to win them early in the season rather than towards the end of the season when the games really matter. I’m not saying they’re aren’t extenuating circumstances for some of those losses but Poch makes a lot of the same errors when it comes to tactics and doesn’t react quickly enough when it’s clear the game is going against us. And he makes baffling team selections like resting Toby when it would have been far more appropriate to rest him against Soton, a game we should win pretty comfortably if we’re being fair.

I stand by what I said, we generally perform far better when there isn’t much expectation for us to do so I.e. people talking up Emirates Marketing Project and Liverpool whilst we slip under the radar. We have won some big games but for the most part I don’t think we rise to the occasion towards the latter stages of competitions or when we have a chance to go far in a cup competition.

Good point. And given the enormous sums the other 'big' clubs routinely spend on their squads compared to ourselves we don't do too badly either.

Our record against the rest of the 'Big Six' in 2018 reads: W 5, D 1, L 5.

Yet when we are in EL league it’s the reason we can’t succeed?

At some point the excuses need to stop, the same issues are killing us in these games.

Weird team selection/tactics
Not changing them
No subs

I don’t want a new manager, I want him to learn.

Today was ridiculous, the same ball cut us open time and time again but yet somehow we got 2-1 - what do we do? Nothing to stop the through ball that killed us.

If the manager couldn’t see the issue I worry.

Being in the Europa is brick but come on, we played our first team against Inter and they played their kids/stiffs in a romp against a mediocre Russian side. If nothing more, the emotional rollercoaster of Wednesday would have taken it out of some players.

Every manager makes excuses especially the ones who win. A lot of the time, they convince themselves is someone else’s fault. If anything Poch probably doesn’t do it enough.

There’s an old story about Jack Nicklaus giving a lecture on winning majors and said “I’ve never three putted on the back 9 of a major.” A lad puts up his hand and says “Sorry Mr Nicklaus but I saw you three putt in the...” Nicklaus cuts him off and says “Read my lips. I’ve never three putted on the back 9 of a major.”

Top sportspeople are delusional to an extent.

It did pose a question for me - is it not a bigger game as there could be a cup at the end of it, as opposed to finishing in the top 4 and / or above the Goons which doesn’t seem to count for anything to some people...

If we had to lose one I'd rather it was the Caravan Cup but now it's an absolute must win.

If we can beat these w@nkers in the league cup, I will take that over a result today. Losing the away game there in the league won't impact our season imo, we will still finish top 4 and we ain't winning the league either way.

I'm burning the kit and actually letting him decide whether to follow football and going to let him choose whoever he wants to support. Not fair forcing him to support this brick club.

Seems like good cause for an avatar change.
Wasn't sure about venturing here as I expected some painful reading but some of it has has surpassed expectations.
Bravo.

You do understand that it isn’t quite as simple as “give us another 90 in the derby and you get a week off?” He could’ve beem carrying a knock, he was deff on the verge of fatigue.

Lamela, a player we missed badly off the bench today, has to be managed.

All reports say Toby was fit, so he was rotated.

It was an error by the manager, lets not pretend it wasnt.

Lamela gets it as a player, so I agree

Anyone else concerned with the amount of big games we lose when we have been winning?

3 x cup games last year

West ham 2-0 up at HT lose
Man Utd 1-0 up lose
Juve 1-0 up 30 mins to go lose

this year

Watford 1-0 up 20 to go lose
Inter Milan 1-0 up 5 mins to go lose
PSV 2-1 up 5 mins to go draw
ARSE 2-1 up HT lose

Is this a fitness thing, game managment thing by manager or players???

No, it's football.
What bothers is we were all over the place from the first whistle.
We could not cope. That was a worry.
We looked scared and unnerved by the occasion which is strange.
