Dele Alli

He was, it just seemed to me that the confidence to try things was evident in the first half and his first touch was first class.

Hammering a point I have made (I know!) but this is (by my reckoning) the first time this season we have been able to play Kane Eriksen Alli Son and Dier together fit and sharp this season. It showed.

I think Dele has become even better this season simply by now being able to play deeper if needed (as he has for England)...I said a couple of years ago I felt he was going to be world class and I believe he is right now.

He was fantastic on Saturday.
His game has undoubtedly improved but there was also an incident with Cheatski players where, even a year ago, we would have expected him to react. This time, no. Just walked away, more or less.
He is a much more mature player now, but has not lost any of his edge in the process.

Edit : just seen the photo that @glorygloryeze posted in the match thread. I think that was the incident I was talking about

have to say that I can’t wait to see Dele away at Barca playing like that, especially with their injuries
He lead every key press and made them go backwards whilst also having a huge impact on our attacking impetus

A huge part of his game that gets lost when people only talk about goals and assists.

He's so smart without the ball, aggressively pressing and closing angles etc.

He’s getting better and better. Up to this season, Alli was all goals and assists. He’s now looking a more rounded player. His display and discipline on Saturday was outstanding, the assist tonight was a great footballing brain in action.

He can be a top class player.

I disagree, he has always been more than goals and assists.

If ever how complete a player he is was in doubt, just look at his work in the summer.

He came into the team in CM, and did well. He didnt get moved forward because he couldnt do the job, rather because he was just so effective going forward. He has always been a very rounded player.

At this point, dare I say, he is our best footballer, IMHO.

I have long felt his defensive acumen was sorely underrated. Southgate helped confirm that he can play a deeper midfield role, which of course means that he is effectively an extra creative with the discipline to play his assigned role and the nous to know when to break. There is no doubt that his best work -and ours- comes when he, Eriksen, Sonny and Hazza work together as 4, but what a player. He excited me from the moment I saw him, he just has always had that very special sauce. And his temperament has come on so so much. What a player!
