Michel Vorm

Twisting to grab a bouncing ball is difficult. It was poor but understandable. The pathetic attempt to punch the ball away before the first goal was purely bad goalkeeping. He should have caught it. I've defended him on the grounds that he's about as good as you get for a backup, but that game was very disappointing. As Mulletperm says, there were other instances where his saves were close to assists.

This witch hunt of Vorm is becoming a sick joke. Three others also make critical mistakes in the build up to Liverpool's first goal - Toby, Eriksen and Dire - yet almost all your spleen is being vented on the softest target, the reserve keeper. By definition that means he's not going to be quite as good as our first choice. Yes he was poor but allowances need to be made. It's not even as though Lloris doesn't commit his share of howlers either.

In a total of just 13 PL appearances over five seasons for Tottenham, Vorm has conceded a grand total of 14 goals. It may surprise you to learn that that's two fewer than Lloris has in his last 13 appearances for the club. Yet Lloris has the luxury of playing with the same set of defenders week-in, week-out.

So please, just give it a fudging rest.

It's quite clear when a player isn't good enough though. Janssen, Nkoudou, Llorente, Sissoko don't get many defenders anymore either

I'd like this twice if I could

We might as well!
There is little anybody can do.
Its Hobson's choice!

Ahem. In his 18 Premier League appearances Cudicini let in 22. It was he who also conceded 5 in two CL games against Inter and 5 in one FA Cup tie against his former club Chelsea.

Try again.

We had 10 men against Inter after Gomes had been sent off.

He also pulled off a great save to keep it 1-0 at home to Inter.

Great post, what gets me i have heard similar said about both Cudicni and Freidel when they were here. What do those three have in common? simple they were all back up keepers for most of their time here, if they were as good as the keepers they were filling in for they would have been the number one keepers.

It is hard to find keepers who are top class to be content with being back up keepers and those three were better then most at that job.

It's time to back an 18/19 year old who can learn from Lloris and succeed him in 3-4 years time.

Lopez was perfect for that except he was a couple of years too old/needed first team action

Vorm isn't great, but what teams have a quality backup keeper? Emirates Marketing Project have Bravo, he is sh1te. Liverpool have Mignolet, sh1te. Who do Chelsea have, surely it's not Rob Green, he must be 3rd choice.

We just have to hope Hugo gets back ASAP.

I’d rather Mignolet if I’m being really honest.

We need a keeper who can play the same way we play... Mignolet is like Edward Scissor hands

He isn't a bad keeper but he has too many ricks in his game

Its why De Gea would struggle at us or City as he can't play in a high line
