Lawro the Twunt says... 2018/19

Denmark Spur

Edgar Davids
Saudi Sportswashing Machine v Tottenham (12:30 BST)

Mourinho may be unhappy about not making enough signings, but Tottenham did not bring in any new faces whatsoever.

This is a big season for Spurs with their move into their new ground, but I am not sure about how it will go for them.

Saudi Sportswashing Machine have had a difficult summer, with their fans and the manager Rafa Benitez questioning the level of investment in the team.

It was never going to be any different, though, was it? Magpies owner Mike Ashley wants to sell up and he was never going to say 'Here's £150m Rafa, go and enjoy yourself'.

As for the game, I am going for a draw. We already know Rafa will set his side up to get a point and I think he would take that result now.

Lawro's prediction: 1-1

Tottenham v Fulham

I don't think Tottenham will be worried about playing at Wembley for a bit longer than planned, and they put in a pretty solid performance to beat Saudi Sportswashing Machine last week.

Fulham face another London club, after losing at home to Crystal Palace last time out,. Things do not get any easier for them this weekend.

My worry about Fulham is that they are easy on the eye and play nice football, but where are their goals going to come from? It is going to be very interesting to see how they get on in the next few weeks.

Lawro's prediction: 2-0

Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur (20:00 BST)

Tottenham do not have a very good record at Old Trafford - they have lost their past five trips to Old Trafford, scoring just once.

Manchester United will be hurting after being rolled over by Brighton. There seem to be some tensions there and there will be people with points to prove.

Mourinho will be very intent on, once again, stopping Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen in the Spurs attack.

Lawro's prediction: 2-1

It's a good point. So who else could ghost in, and use the space to score if united are marking Kane, Alli and Eriksen? If Eriksen is playing deeper, then it could mix things up. Moura could be dangerous, and maybe Dembele could drive toward the box and setup goals. I hope he starts.

Have we really lost 5 in a row there? its ages then since we won twice in a row.

Watford v Tottenham (16:00)

Lawro's prediction: 1-2

Both these teams have started really well. With Watford, I always worry they will have that dip and look like a team cascading towards relegation - but I like the manager. Tottenham did seem to miss the boat by not signing anyone during the summer transfer window, but they have some really good players.

We missed what boat?

I remember, I used to have this old pocket transistor radio, and when the batteries would run down and there wasn't enough power to drive the speaker when you turned it on, it would just sound like, "Parp-pr-par-prrr-par-pr-prrr-pr-par-pr-parp-pr-parp."

That's him. That's Lawro.

Twunt.

You know those really runny dog bricks that the owners don’t clean up?

You know the way walking boots have really deep grips on the soles?

When the two meet and you only have a twig to clean it up...

That’s him. That’s Lawro

You wear walking boots?

You deserve everything you get.

I don’t - I just remember a scene from the Royle family where Barbara was scraping some brick from Dave’s Timberland style boot and it made me think of Lawro.

I’m sure the prospect of stepping in a fresh warm one in Gucci loafers has the same effect...
