Mateo Kovacic

How on earth have you seen so much of him to form that opinion given that he isn't a starter for Real Madrid and wasn't a starter for Croatia either?

I don't watch Spanish football but I've been a big Serie A fan since the 90s. He was tremendous at Inter

He plays a lot for Croatia too, though at the moment often from the bench.

Kovacic is a quality player no doubt, there is a reason why Madrid paid £31m for him back when that was a fairly high value transfer. Unlike Gutter Boy I don't see much Dembele in him, he doesn't have the same strength. I've always likened him to Modric, someone who can pull the strings between the lines and is more comfortable than Luka in the final third. He still has weaknesses to his game but out of all the realistic players the club have been linked with this summer, he's the player I'd most like to see join us.

Bakayoko out, Kovacic in. Sickening.
For a team in a heap of supposed turmoil over Courtois, Hazard, Conte over summer etc, they still manage to pull out exactly the kind of deal we should've been doing.

Sissoko out. Kovacic/Grealish/Lobotka/N'Dombele in. Jeez, even if some of them are just fluff and rumour, we could've got somebody in to improve the squad surely!!?

They have far more pull than us crisis or not, they always change manager yet consistently win trophies. I mean they won the CL a few years ago, the leage 2 years ago etc. We have to face facts they are more likely to win a trophy than us this season as well.
Funny how we all thought being in the CL was the biggest pull for the top players.... basically they don't give a f.ck as long as the money talks.

Don’t think that’s necessarily true, this is one season Chelsea are out of the CL - if they consistently were out of the completion then you’d see players not so keen to go there. They also won the PL recently, they are still a massive club to any player and certainly more successful than us - combine that with the wages they can offer they’re still a very attractive option unfortunately....

That 'special relationship' that we have with Real Madrid is working well isn't it?

That's not what he's saying.

He's saying that in his opinion they look past the lack of CL at chelsea because of their recent success winning trophies.

I don't agree with that though and I think they look at a combination of money and CL football.

Jorginho on 102k pw and also the wages Kovacic will be on at chelsea are easily doable for us. Throw in we have CL football and we could get these players.

Why we don't go for them is fudging beyond me.

We're just handing our CL place to our rivals - absolutely unreal.

Attractive option yes but I maintain that if we match the wage on offer from them, coupled with our CL football and ultra stadium, that would result in them choosing Tottenham.
