Anthony Martial

My mates a big Palace fan who is absolutely adamant that Parish won't do any business with Levy as he's insulted Palace with derisory offers of late and is seen as a time-waster.

Apparently Zaha has got the same agent as Kane, which is why there's a rumour of a £40m release clause being leaked to Spurs. If so, Parish will go ape-brick and is more likely to give Chelsea a call and tell them to bid £45m for the signing, than deal with Levy.
Zaha only signed a new 5 year contract quite recently, but the clause in it is now seen as quite low by current market standards, hence trying to get him to sign a new one.
Why would Chelsea bid £45m if there’s a £40m release clause?!!! :D:rolleyes:

The whole release clause thing is unconfirmed, from what I can tell.

Seen rumours from a Palace fan saying that they want him to sign a new deal to remove something from the deal he signed last year - assumed to be a release clause. Though thats as close as Ive seen to anything substantive on it.

That said - did Arsenal offer release clause + £1 for Suarez and get told to fudge off, what happened there?!

Liverpool ignore legality and arsenal are pussies.

Whilst both the above are true I think Wenger said that there wasn’t actually a release clause!

Which to be honest was a relief as I wouldn’t have wanted to have seen him go there.

That would explain it!

I always thought clubs were obliged to accept, and so Arsenals +£1 offer should have been valid.

Though I did also consider it was valid, but it was also Suarez who told them where to go :D

He did actually have a release clause, though. Liverpool decided to ignore it - they gambled that Suarez wouldn't take them to court over a move to Arsenal of all places.

The gamble paid off, and Suarez never did. But, technically, they acted illegally.

We dont really need Martial. De Ligt - yeah. The other three are not really needed IMHO.

Think you need to look at Grealish/Cook as a different category of deals to the likes of Martial.
- Martial / de Ligt etc would be signed to directly impact the first team
- Grealish / Cook are squad fillers to replace the likes of Sissoko and GKN. They're young, reasonably priced for an English player, would improve overseas / English balance and could fit well with our style (good on the ball, aggressive, mobile, quick etc)

I dont see it. We have solid DMs in Dier, Wanyama. Major weakness for me is CM with Dembele's injury record - Cook and Grealish are not IMHO good enough to even be squad rotation in those positions. I would rather risk/keep Sissoko, Onomah, Winks and Skipp. Grealish and Cook cant touch GKN in wing play.

De Ligt is in case we lose Toby and because he has played with Sanchez before not to mention the Ajax stamp of development.

To me Grealish and Cook wouldnt be intended to be a Dembele replacement, just more depth.

You and I obviously see GKN differently. Personally I think he's way out of his depth at the moment in PL, but even more fundamentally than that and even if he improves, we don't play with out and out wingers which is what he is. Grealish plays centrally and would more naturally fit into the team. Plus GKN is an overseas player and if we sign Martial or de Ligt then we need to get rid of some other overseas players

Sissoko turns 29 in 2 weeks' time and having a back-up player of that age doesn't make much sense as their value will start to decrease but we won't be getting much from him on the pitch - he's 5th choice at best in CM or 6th choice at best in the roles behind Kane. He also won't improve given his age and is another overseas player

I think of them both a bit like Alli - he wasnt bought for the first team. Rather, for the squad, and then lets see what happens.

Thats not to say I expect either to develop as far or fast as he did - but I would expect them to get the same opportunity, and then who knows?
