Racism in football

I know I always bang on about it but as long at players like Terry or Suarez are not sacked by clubs for use of the N-Word all because they are too good and too valuable then the fight is gonna be tough. It sets the wrong example to the sport and the wider world if you set a different standard for players than anyone else in life
Chelsea doesn't surprise me. They've set their stall out a long time ago - they're racist clams and proud of it. It's no surprise they supported John Terry.

Liverpool though did. They spend all their time bitching and whining about some flimflam perceived oppression of some kind or another. Whether it's Thatcher, the police, the Sun, those evil Juve fans hiding under walls, etc. To play the victim card all day every day and then support the likes of Suarez and Salah is just beyond comprehension.

Well this is it, its crazy.

Toby Young hounded out a job for some choice tweets

Young lad sacked from a football club because he sent a sick tweet about another footballer losing their baby.

Terry and Suarez call another player a N1gger and its a fine and a few games ban. In the Tery case what made it worse is him remaining in the game at the top level turned it into a further circus when he played Man United. The same happened with Evra and Suarez. So not only did you have the original incident you had it highlighted later that these players are scumbags.

The Russian Football Union (RFU) has fined Spartak Moscow’s head of media for a tweet with “racist” content.

Leonid Trakhtenberg has been fined just 20,000 rubles (£253) after a video of some of three of the club’s black players training in the sun was accompanied with a message in Russian.

The tweet, posed on January 13, translated as “see how the chocolates melt in the sun”, along with some sunshine and chocolate emojis.

Apparently, the post was made by a player, Georgi Dzhikiya, who was let off with a reprimand, while Trakhtenberg was deemed to be responsible for the account with almost 700,000 followers.

The club deleted the tweet and then posted a video of Fernando denying there was any racism at the club.

FIFA said it “condemns the message published on the Twitter account of Spartak Moscow”.

Kick It Out said earlier this month: “This social media post from the official account of Spartak Moscow only continues to highlight the prejudices towards black people in Russia.

“With the World Cup only a few months away, it is a reminder that Russia – as with the whole of football – has significant work to do to eradicate racism of all forms from the game.”

Players are not allowed 3rd party support from KickitOut etc whilst any investigation is taking place, that seems mental.

Its really angered me, what a load of absolute toss.

Whether or not the investigation is pending, in progress, or ultimately comes back as guilty/not guilty verdict - if someone feels they have been abused they should have help and support.

Not at all surprising, a large chunk of the England fan base is very much like this.

They like to sing songs like Ten German Bombers or "I'd rather be a paki than a jew"

I watched the Tunisia game in a pub by north Kensington and most of the pub was singing the German bomber song.....it's seriously pathetic.
I didn't know whether to laugh or be embarrassed

Pity with it happening abroad that they couldn't have been charged under a hate crime law or something.

That video is very moving.

Apparently they have been charged and in one instance a Michael Herbert of Derby has been given a 5 year football banning order. The bloke is in his mid 50's you would think he would know better

I can’t watch England in a pub these days, football fans are clams.

A lot of those who follow international teams aren't football fans. They're just following anything involving their country, especially if they're somewhat successful.

I would say that’s far more prevalent attitude at club level.

The ‘I only watch and care about my club’ feels more the case.

People who normally won't watch any sport suddenly get interested when it's at international level and someone from their country has a chance at doing well.

My general opinion is that football fans are clams, no matter who they are supporting. Normally a collection of drinkers and St Georges crosses is going to contain a high number off racist arseholes, sporting events dilute that, but not by much.

Look at the number of female England fans at the World Cup compared to most other countries and you get to the heart of the problem.
