Upgrading the Team

Sell Aurier and Sissoko
Upgrade on Dier
Someone fitter than Dembele
Young pacey striker as cover for Kane
Stand out player that can make a difference.

Key here is to buy proven winners who have won honours for their clubs. We don't have any proven winners in our team. They don't know how to win major honours.

One of the players you're looking to sell is a proven winner and so are several others in our team/squad - presumably though you mean players who have won 'top' leagues and/or the CL (like Llorente) whilst it would obviously be great to sign established quality from the worlds best sides that are good enough to play in our first XI rather than be backups, im not sure who would be a realistic target there.

Bale/Modric/Iniesta maybe

We need one man who has won things as a full part player.

We need a true game changer too

I that can be the same man then great

llorente may have a trophy attached to his name but there are lots of bit part players who have won trophies whilst not being anywhere near significant in the win (I may be wrong on Llorente)

I was listening to talkSPORT last night talking about Terrys impact at Villa and it was all about when he spoke everyone listened. They respected him for what he has achieved and how he lead

We have players who were first choice in their clubs league title wins tbf - but as already established it has to be in a 'top' league and now we're adding first choice regular (unlucky Johnny Evans) and preferably captain material also - so who are Juventus/Barca/Real/Atleticos/Bayerns regular starters/captains who we can poach this window?

Moura won 11 major honours at PSG, Aurier 8. Then there's the Ajax quartet, Llorente (WC, Euros, 3 Serie As) and Lloris.

Sell Aurier and Sissoko
I think Aurier will get another season unless we find someone too good to turn down.
If Sissoko is happy to play a bit part as he has recently, I think he's okay as a squad player.
Upgrade on Dier
That's a big ask.
Someone fitter than Dembele
Hopefully we can get last season's Wanyama and Winks back.
Young pacey striker as cover for Kane
This doesn't work, they don't get game time. Son is a pretty decent back up as has been shown.
Stand out player that can make a difference.
We can't afford a ready made one, so it will be another hopeful punt. Sessegnon could be the one.

You missed out the replacement for Alderweireld.

It's not just the players.. The manager is not a proven winner. In this country when he is up against the likes of Guardiola, Mourinho, Conte and Klopp he is at a major disadvantage. It's not fair but that's just the way it is.

Iniesta in some ways would be a perfect signing, a metronome for the team and providing all that experience and quality but he is likely to be off somewhere already sorted. Maybe even Yaya Toure for 2 seasons wouldn't be a bad shout? Just one player like that with a history of winning trophies could make all the difference.

CM looks like it could be a key area for us this summer so managing to sign one of those two could be really helpful for the next 18 months or so but outside of those two I wouldn't even begin to know who to suggest for us as an upgrade on what we have.

I wouldn't bother anymore trying to buy a direct forward to play instead of Kane, it hasn't worked really thus far and I would probably try to use a model whereby the front of the team interchanges during a match and can take the slack if Kane isn't fit.

Aurier has looked like a bit of a nutjob but a full pre season and another season at this level will see if he is right for us going forward. I am hopeful that at least a fit Rose next season will give us the width and penetration we had in 16/17 and Trippier/Aurier will hopefully get as close to what Walker offered us.

I would probably sell Llorente, Sissoko, Janssen and N'koudou and if a reasonable offer came in I would probably sell Lamela as well. On top of that if we got offers or could negotiate deals with sell on clauses then I would sell Onomah and Carter-Vickers too. That should give a nice portion of money to add to any transfer fund to sign 4-5 decent players that will enhance the squad. Obviously if Alderweireld were to leave then that would need to be looked at again too.

I would go for Martial, Toure, De Vrij, Kovacic as my signings going forward and then if it were possible and something was do-able regarding Sessegnon then I would add that in as well. 5 signings, 2 of them free transfer but obviously wages is still required but ive no doubt a deal could be done with Toure and De Vrij.

Martial, Kovacic and Sessegnon would likely be £140m-£150m in transfer fees but the players going would probably bring in £60m-£80m and free up a large bulk of wages and again if Alderweireld goes that changes the game regarding fee and wages available.

Would leave us with Kane up top being supported by Alli, Martial, Moura, Sessegnon and Son with Lamela a possibility.

A CM of Dier, Dembele, Kovacic, Wanyama and Toure.

CBs of Alderweireld (?), Vertonghen, De Vrij and Sanchez.

FBs of Rose, Davies, Trippier and Aurier.

GKs of Lloris with whatever occurs with Vorm and Gazziniga to be decided.

most of the players via Ajax won the league, Aurier and Moura (played 35+ games while winning) both with PSG - Victor at Celtic.

They don't have to charismatic, we need someone on the pitch to hold us together and make calls.
When things go wrong everyone is looking around for instruction.

That's when the collective training should kick in. If you are relying on emotions and some gobby clown shoe gonad*ing you, you've already lost.

I disagree with your first point, training will only take a group so far in fluid situations.

Also I ignored it the first time and put it down to a poor joke, but as you keep bringing it up, I have not said we need a big mouthed bully, I said we need a leader, someone to organise us for developing situations, a calm head to take control and get us through difficult spells of games.
You speak of a feared bully, I ask for a respected leader.
