The Sissoko hate on this board is hilarious

- Is he at the level to own a first 11 spot, or be a big impact sub = no
- Has he played 28 games this season alone, always been working hard, helped with onboarding Aurier and provided valuable cover for midfield in a season where a lot of the regulars have had injuries = yes

It's interesting that pre Spurs, he was a lazy player capable of the odd great game, now that people can't play the lazy card, he has no skill and no impact games.

The idea that he is a dud buy, or some how will cost the club is also laughable. If sold at the end of season, we would have got two full seasons out of him and likely to sell on for 12-15M minimum in the new market (knowing Levy, I wouldn't be surprised if we got 20M+ back)

I get he's not everyone's favorite, and unfortunately gets compared against a team of quite amazingly technical players, but the constant need to brick on the guy is just tiresome at this point ...

I’m ready and waiting to defend AVB when someone tries to pin Sissoko on him.

You shouldn't have to. It was 2010, Redknapp in charge and apparently we had a 14 mill bid rejected. Toulouse wanted 25 mill.

Redknapp thought he was the new Vieira:confused::)

Sissoko has been on our radar since his Toulouse days. I remember us being heavily linked with him and Capoue when they burst on the scene back then.

Capoue started like a house on fire then injured and we dumped him.

Watched him for Watford a few times looks red hot again

Actually people compare him against our youth team and find his technique extremely lacking. In fact, I will be surprised if any of our youth players come close to Sissoko's technique.

we got 2 full seasons out of David Bentley as well. Total waste of money, and most important of all, wasted squad position. I wonder which talented player we could've seen instead.

Bentley was mostly a waste but he wasn't a total waste. And I'm not talking about the 'goal'. The run up in the first CL qualifying season we had lots of injuries, and Bentley and few others stepped in and did a job. A good job too and kept things going in the right direction much like Sissoko has this season. Was that enough to justify Bentley's fee? Maybe it was if you look at the bigger picture of what has happened since then. Just maybe if that season hadn't happened as it did then our progression as a club would have stalled, or worse fallen away altogether. Just for those few months Bentley found some form, kept it simple, and the rest as they say is history.

I'm not his biggest fan but I'm not blind to the job Sissoko is doing either and neither is Poch more importantly. I've had my laughs at his expense to be honest, but I kinda like him too. When we look back on this season and analyse Sissoko's impact it may be succinctly summarised as he plugged holes when better players were injured, and if we qualify for the CL again then maybe Sissoko has justified his fee. That is good enough for me.

There's no Sissoko hate, he seems like a nice guy.

He's just a joke - one that keeps on giving every time he tries to control a football.

New career low then - going to prison

I wonder if Grealish mugged off Leipzig over the summer or something?

Why didn’t he suggest those player at those prices when he was with us, iirc his genius suggestions under our employment involved huge wages for players we already knew about.

I forgot he was at rb leipzig. Good at that size club where the gains can look impressive.

I dare say I could go to say Palace and improve them to top 4. But then getting them to compete for the league would be the difficult bit.
