Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Naybet
Anyone do this or done this?

Got blood work last month which I do annually and the only thing that came back as a concern was slightly low testosterone levels. Which is perfectly normal for someone that’s about to turn 40. But they said I could get a referral to get TRT.

I would say if you need TRT (Had a few blood tests and ruled out other causes for your symptoms) and can afford it then go with a proper specialist provider like The Men's Health Clinic. They are the best in the UK at the minute. Its almost impossible to get good treatment on the NHS. Your numbers have to be really low for them to consider it and even then they normally only offer terrible solutions like Nebido which is often 1 injection every 6 weeks or more, which is terrible as you just get a peak followed by a huge trough.
(The best method for TRT is little and often, which is what the private clinics would always recommend.)

There's many factors to consider though, its definitely worth doing plenty of research.

I’m in the US so they are a bit more….profit motivated lol

I would definitely check everything thoroughly first to be sure there are not other reasons for any symptoms you have. Once you start you are pretty much going to be on it for the rest of your life. I started about 6 months ago and I am not regretting it.. I always thought I was semi fit, go to the gym, reasonable diet etc. But now there's no more feeling exhausted all the time (the biggest win for me), better mental clarity, better libido, better sleep...

Still having regular check ups to see if Im on the best protocol but so far so good.

Note: If its primary for gym/ muscle gains etc then I would still go through the official steps. A lot of gym goers are just listening to people on bodybuilding forums and only checking their Test levels every now again, but you need to be sure its not causing any side effects and getting proper complete tests done regularly.

What are the side effects?
If I did TRT for say a year and then weaned off it what would happen?

Pros
Il get in pretty good shape without changing my workouts.
Be able to play football more regularly.
Errections like I am 18 again.

Cons
???

I think you can come off but you have to wean yourself off slowly and it can take a while for you body to start producing again to previous levels, you might lose muscle, and start to see all the previous symptoms such as fatigue, mood changes etc.

These are the main cons...

Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) is a significant commitment. While it can relieve symptoms of low testosterone, the cons include testicular shrinkage, infertility, acne, and the risk of elevated red blood cell counts (which increases the risk of blood clots). Furthermore, starting TRT often requires lifelong treatment because it shuts down your body’s natural testosterone production
