How rich are you?

This is eye opening stuff. Scary.

It's true that the worlds wealthiest 1% possess more wealth than the remaining 99%, didn't realise i was apart of the 1%.

64,691,729th

Putting me at 1.08%

So fudge you lot, rich scum destroying my society.

Can I borrow a fiver?

But in all seriousness, assuming that data is somewhere near accurate, it is very eye opening and scary how much disparity there is.

How the hell did you manage to bring the double post problem with you?

The thing that surprised me is how low that 1% mark is.

Those Greenpeace types would have you believe that the top 1% are lording it over all of us hoarding the world's wealth and bricking on us from above. If my net to gross calculations are correct, a salary of around £33K puts you on the border of the 1%.

That's not rich, certainly not in the South East anyway.

But that's 1% in the World. Using what? Currency rates as the way to compare between countries and societies?

Big difference between that and the 1% within a single country with a cost of living that's much easier to compare directly. Not only "greenpeace types" thinking that the inequality in wealth distribution is becoming a significant problem in several western countries.

That even people that don't consider themselves rich in the West are much better off financially than the vast majority of people alive in the world now or ever alive throughout history is not exactly news. Although I suppose this illustrates that point rather nicely.

I have heard the BBC's More or Less go through a proper analysis of the $1 per day stat and the calculations were incredible.

I'd be very surprised if anything like that has been done here.

I really don't think disparity in wealth is a problem and I certainly don't like the fact that those who seem to care most about it seem to believe that the answer is to drag the top down rather than the bottom up.

6,135,887th if that is correct..

Aparently I'm in the top 0,10 % by income witch I find absolutely absurd  I've got loads of friends that make more than me

Would love to know the mechanics of this calculation, being in the top .1% doesn't seem right, surely that Is Rothschild territory

Don't forget just how heavily populated the world is.

Most estimates put the population somewhere north of 7.2B. That means that to be in the top 1% you're in the top 72M. So the top 0.1% still consists of over 7 million people - that's not even close to Rothschild territory.

The family wealth as a whole is actually quite spread out through a large number of heirs. But Jacob would be in the top 0.0001%

1,341,907th - this is depressing.

Arent most of us in the 1% bracket anyways unless you're Chich obviously

Wow....i have a pretty lower-than-average norwegian income, and im in the top 0,79%.

Firmly at 47,170,583rd place.

My parents and sister must be in the absolute elite :p
