I remember seeing it - my grandparents used to live in the middle of nowhere in Norfolk and I went up to visit them just before I moved to the States. Probably one of the best places in England I could've seen it as there was so little light pollution.

I wonder if we'll actually get to visit another occupied planet...

It's pretty incredible when you think how vast the universe is to be honest. I hope one day we actually find out a lot more about the world we live in; although we're making big advancements all the time, you can't help but feel we're pretty far behind. There could even be people from other Universes already here but they could be so advanced in their galaxy that our radars etc. simply can't track their entry.

It's amazing to think how far mankind has come but when I see that pic I realise just how far we have left to go...and that's only from stuff we know exists.

It's so frustrating when both scientists and theologists talk in absolutes and certainties. The truth is, we know nothing.

I llove thinking about all this stuff, it just baffles me so much, but it also makes me think there MUST be some kind of immense power out there somewhere, aswell as Millions/Probably Billions of other occupied planets.

Im gonna be pissed if i die and thats it, game over and i get know answers to the mystery that is the universe.

Just imagine having the technology and time to fly in a straight line to the edge of the universe.... There must be some kind of barrier? Or is the universe literally NEVER ENDING, and not in a random LOOP kind of way where we would cruise back past earth again if we went far enough... maybe it just goes for ever and ever... but we just can't comprehend that because we are not near intelligent enough.

We think we are intelligent because in comparison to everything we know we are... i.e pigeons can't comprehend emotions or acts like revenge, love, big brother, murder or santa. They don't have the capacity to rationalise anything, so we probably don't have the capacity for millions of other things..........

ARRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHH  MY BRAIN HURTS JUST DOING THIS!

There may be a race of aliens out there that are so advanced, soooo intelligent that they can just scan the universe from their base planet, and see for lightyears away perhaps... they know everything thats going on, but to them we are as insignifcant as a leaf is on a tree. So they would never bother to approach us or use us for anything...

I love just spitting random thought on this subject but it does give you brain ache.

Scary thing is, those pictures are what it looked like billions of years ago. Some of those stars are nothing now.

It'll be near enough impossible to tell if life is there never mind getting there, if it takes billions of years for light to get there, god help us in a spacecraft.

This is your sort of thread mate! I know you love all this outerspace philosophical stuff!

    Smile

Yeahh bigtime, i just think that although in SOME ways you could argue it's pointless discussing/theorising the whole subject, i like the fact that nobody has a clue and therfore the possibilities you can try and wrap your brain around are endless. It has to be the most intriguing and baffling subject to talk about, i can't think of anything else people must want to know more about. Even religous discussions, life after death etc etc. can't compete with the wonders and mystery of our universe.

Id love to believe that at some point in our existence we all get some answers!

I totally believe in the idea that there must be forces, physical rules, other living things, materials/substances etc etc. That our brains just could not comprehend. Ahhh it's just so mental!

All the theories on things such as the universe was created by a big bang... when you really think about that it sounds like a complete guess and complete bollocks in many ways! Some say the universe will eventually suck back into nothing like it was before the bang... so what will be left?! Just nothing? Just other chemicals floating around with potential for "big bangs"   ?  And if NOTHING is left then does the NOTHINGNESS have any limits to it? Surely it must? Or must it!?

    WOW INDEED
