As far as I remember Mams you are a good friend of Bentley's. Can you please confirm whether any of this Bentley whoopla is in any way accurate?

Oh and then hopefully everyone can stop arguing over who is the better player - Lennon or Bentley.

Incidentally, they are two completely different types of players, so it is not a question of who is the better player but who is the better option in any given situation, and since we will find ourselves in a number of different situations in games throughout the season that require one of the attributes of either player over the other i.e. pace on the counter attack versus dangerous delivery and accuracy from set pieces, we need as many options as possible.

In conculusion therefore we must have both.

    Edit: Bentley signs for Spurs

     I agree

Could start to look like we have a quality squad.  To many people want us to get rid of players that we know can do the job and replace them with unknowns.  But when you look at teams like Man U and the Arse their bench warmers would walk into our team.  We need to aim for the same thats why i would keep Lennon both are completly diffrent wide players and will give us options.

The way I see it Ramos likes a choice between Outright Speed and getting behind the defence and a more Technical passer with Quality Crosses and a bit more defensive.

      Speed                                     Technique

    Lennon (RW)                            Bentley (RM)
Dos Santos (LW)                       Malbranque (LM) (RM)
    Taarabt (RW) (LW)                    Jenas (RM)

Giving endless options and combinations, start with one winger and one midfielder and being able change to two wingers if chasing a goal,

Tarbuck under speed rather than technique?
  •  06-19-2008, 21:54 384688 in reply to 384663

I know someone who is friends twice removed with Bentley (thus qualifying me as ITK I'm sure??).

Last time I spoke with them was the last game v Liverpool 1 month ago. The story at that time was that Liverpool had agreed with D Bentley that they would pay him £80k per week, however they had not agreed a fee with Blackburn. At that time there was no hint of him coming to Spurs.

My knowledge of Bentley is that although he grew up in Cheshunt his family, and girlfriend are from the North West. His family nows lives back in the North West and although he still has school friends in Herts he has no strong ties down here. Also, contrary to som reports he was and always has been a huge Man united fan (and not Spurs as suggested).

This is not to say that he wont come to Spurs, just that as at a month ago if my story is correct, he was all set to join Liverpool. According to Alan Brazil on talkSPORT Liverpool have no money and with the exception of Barry wont be bringing anyone in unless someone leaves, so this would tie in with my story in that Liverpool cannot afford the transfer fee. I'll see what else I can find out.

Didn't Mams say that he was a ManU fan but had a soft spot for Spurs as most of his mates are Spurs fans?

The think the master plan is that he will be both.

"I'm a Manchester United fan. My dad originally got me watching them and the way they played. Eric Cantona was there at the time - I loved him, him and Gazza. The first match I ever saw was Tottenham versus Wimbledon when Gazza first came down to London. Lineker was there too, but for me Cantona was the true hero."

The silence doesn't speak volumes, he's just protecting a mate. I spoke to him on Wednesday about the situation but it's not up to me to come on here and tell the world is it? I'm sure he'll be on here later today

Why would he be keen to tell a load of strangers about his mate's situation?

Look at the guns on POB... Go on sausage. I'm very excited about him getting back to full training. Any chance BAE might prove he can kick a ball this season do you reckon?
