OK-I have finally accepted this transfer. Obviously Lennon needed competition-Bentley will provide that and more to justify the fee.

Complete guesswork but it seems there is already rivalry between the 2 and Ramos has come down on Lennon's side by giving him the no 7 shirt. Lennon has scored a goal-with his head! So he has started to change his game a bit. As I said it's guesswork.

And finally the combined fee for the 2 of them is £16 mill= £8mill each. That relaxes me more.

Want I like about Bentley is the chip on his shoulder. He thinks he is the best, he wants to be the best, he wants everyone to think he is the best. And the great part is that he's willing to do whatever it takes, going out on loan to random places from Arsenal, overcoming injury-hit seasons, moving clubs gradually and working his way up through sheer talent and effort.

It's the kind of attitude I hope rubs off on someone like Jenas.

Bentley can also play as a support striker/central attacking midfielder just behind the striker(s). I expect to see him and Lennon used in different positions, not just to battle out the right side role. I think Ramos' whole attacking theory is based on players with interchangeable positions.

    So....

    Bentley - RM/SS

    Lennon - RM/LM

    Modric - CM/AM/LM

    Arshavin - LM/SS

    Dos Santos - LM/SS

Possibly somewhere else in the 70+ Page thread but....

    The Sun:

Bentley, 23, will now play his football in the white half of North London, after being groomed for stardom by Arsenal before moving to Ewood Park in January 2006 via a loan spell at Norwich.

And in a real football twist, his earliest memory of Gazza is him scoring against the Gunners on his debut in a 3-2 derby defeat at the Lane in September 1988

David Michael Bentley (born 27 August 1984)... would have just turned 4.

Great memory from the lad Think

This is the most notable, considering you were closer than any other media outlet.

Hmm - that's what annoys me about Bentley, but I totally see what you mean - from a footballing perspective it's great that he has self belief and determination and is a bit of a billy big b*ll*cks, but whenever I see him interviewed I just don't like the fella - I think it's a combination of his ego, his Gooner past, his weasly face, his stupid hairdo's, his arrogance... but yeah - from a football point of view it's probably what we need

He seems the complete opposite to Bent, who seems very shy and quiet and self effacing - more likely to say "I'll play if the boss wants me to, and I'll do my best" whereas Bentley would say "I should be playing, I'm the best, why aren't I playing?"

He's the complete opposite of the general attitude of players purchased under Jol (aside from Berbatov and Davids) - Bentley is a winner.
