Villarreal wants to Poulsen for the midfield

         * The Danish international was about to be yellow for three seasons of interest by Vecchia Signora Rossi can bring El Madrigal

Villarreal are willing to leave this week to force the market to close your template. Transfers of Nihat, Matías Fernández, Antonio Valencia, and even charged for the Pellegrini after his departure to Real Madrid, 4 million, have given an unexpected cash flow for several weeks into the coffers of the club.

In this way, despite the absence of policy vary little sign this summer, it is true that this deal allows injection operations in the key importance of the team. One is to recover an old dream by Villarreal failed: the signing of the Danish Christian Poulsen.

For three seasons, the player was on the agenda before calling yellow in Seville. Furthermore, the time came to make sure that the player had already reached agreement with the club to join in the yellow time to complete his commitment to German Schalke 04.

The player has not been linked to Italian football and seeks an immediate exit

After a negotiation rocambolesca, where his band played a number with the Milan and Villarreal, the Danish ended in Seville. In this season, things have not gone so well that the player expected in Italian Calcio and seeks a way out.

After paying 10 million euros for him last summer, the footballer arrived at Juventus as a personal stake for Claudio Ranieri. The dismissal of the technician and his bad season so relegated to the background, so that both the club and the player are determined not to continue. Moreover, Juve have come to accept offers for the Danish international who have not liked to be the player. Specifically, Poulsen has said no to Fenerbahçe, who came to put on the table of Juventus 18 million euros.

    Tottenham, interested
The yellows are not arriving at these figures and Juve know that the offers that arrive by the player will have little to do with that offered by the Turks. Next to Villarreal, Tottenham is one of the main rivals. The El Madrigal, however, want to play their assets and expect the Vecchia Signora accept the possibility of collecting less than it spent a season ago.

A play for Villarreal in Turin interest in Rossi. Although the Juve resigned to the figures demanded by Villarreal, interest Poulsen could give a new dimension. The Italians, according to Italian press, be prepared to get a preferential option for the future by the young striker and could play his yellow cards.

Spurs face new rivals in winger swoop

    Last Updated: Thu, 02 Jul 2009 10:03
    Tottenham%20Hotspur

Aston Villa are reportedly weighing up a swoop for Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing, who is a long-term Tottenham target.

Spurs were lambasted by Boro for trying to lure the England international away from the Riverside in January when they were involved in a relegation battle. However having dropped into the Championship, the Teessiders opened the door for Downing to make a move to the Londoners last month.

The main obstacle to a £10million transfer is the broken foot which is set to sideline Downing until around October. And that could put Spurs boss Harry Redknapp off making a bid now until he sees how well his recovery goes.

In the meantime Villa boss Martin O'Neill is reportedly ready to try and take Downing to Villa Park on a loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer. That would allow the player to recover from his injury and then try and impress the Midlands outfit into making the switch full-time next summer.

The problem with that scenario is Boro are looking for hard cash to rebuild their squad for a promotion battle and would no doubt prefer to sell Downing now even if it means dropping the asking price to take into account the risk involved over his injury.

Tottenham Hotspur's chase for a second goalkeeper continues, as they turn their interest to Eldin Jakupovic.

Spurs are desperate for a back-up to Heurelho Gomes, and are reported to be interested in England U-21 international Scott Loach.

Now, according to The Times, they are also considering a move for Jakupovic. The Swiss 'keeper is owned by Lokomotiv Moscow, but is currently on loan at Grasshoppers Zurich.

His contract at Lokomotiv expires in 2010, so the Russian club could be keen to cash in on him now, rather than let him leave for nothing next year. He is valued at around €2 million, considerably less than the estimated €7 million Spurs would have to pay for Loach.

Jakupovic has one international cap for Switzerland, having chosen to play for them instead of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Groningen admit Everton & Tottenham target Marcus Berg will leave this summer

    / Transfer news

    02/07/2009

FC Groningen manager Ron Jans has admitted that Swedish striker Marcus Berg will definitely leave the club this summer.

Jans is widely quoted in the Dutch press this morning, having said: "It is only a question of to whom, when and how much he [Berg] leaves us for."

Hans Nijland, general manager of FC Groningen, admitted he was surprised by Jans’ comments but did shed further light on Berg’s future.

Nijland: "Marcus has an ongoing contract with FC Groningen and I have not heard anything from any of the clubs rumoured to be interested."

Since finishing the European Under-21 Championship as top goal scorer with seven goals, Berg has been linked with a move to Everton and Tottenham in England as well as Fiorentina, Lazio and Bayern Munich.

If he does move within Holland, champions AZ Alkmaar are interested, but Nijland added that England is the most likely destination.

The 22-year-old striker scored 22 goals in 35 games for FC Groningen last season and has already played seven times for the full Swedish team, scoring one goal. Berg is contracted to Groningen until the end of the 2010/2011 season and crucially speaks English which could aid his integration into English football.

IMScouting pinpointed Marcus Berg as a Player to Watch last October, a scouting report, including video evidence, can be seen here. In addition, all of Marcus Berg’s seven goals scored at the European Under-21 Championship can be seen on the video below.

There's a bit more on Maxi Rodriguez in some of the Spanish papers this morning...

A couple of days ago it was reported that Atleti are trying to convince him to accept an offer, rather than sit out the final year of his contract. Today AS are following that up by saying that the club are using the World Cup as a stick to beat him with, telling Maxi that Abel Resino doesn't see him as a key player at all and that too much time on the bench this season will dash any hopes the player has of playing for the Argies in South Africa.

AS also says that Fenerbahce are interested, but Atleti sources think it will be easier to persuade him to move to the Prem as he doesn't fancy Turkey at all. They go on to say that the best offer on the table is Spur's €12 million bid.

(My own view -  It is true that Maxi is for sale, AS seem to be using Mundo Deportivo's story of a few days ago as the sole source of this Spurs bid - yet even Mundo Deportivo don't seem too convinced of the truth in this: as yesterday they contradicted themselves by publishing that there had been no significant bids for Maxi in an article about a lack of funds at the Vicente Calderon. My gut feeling is that this bid sounds very, very high for an opening salvo from Spurs  for a player on the transer list with just one year left on his contract....so in other words its more a case of Atleti telling the world that they are open to offers and they would optimistically like the bidding to start at €12 million and are leaking these reports of this offer from Spurs)

    Anything on Pirlo -> Atletico/Spurs/Chelsea?

    Danners9:
    Anything on Pirlo -> Atletico/Spurs/Chelsea?

Only the stuff in Marca this morning, saying that Atleti want Pirlo and he wants to go to Atleti ahead of Chelsea.....

Problem is for Atleti, they simply havent got the cash and the credit crunch has affected their finances badly as they are trying to fund this new stadium of theirs...so yes, it all comes down to the same thing with regard the Maxi story: ie Atleti want to sell to raise money and Maxi is up for grabs...I'm just not sure if Spurs have really bid that much, if anything at all.

Incidentally, there is a story in one of the local Seville papers on Diddly Zokora - its written by a guy who is very close to Sevilla and pretty reliable - says that talks are still ongoing with Spurs - and going very well despite the public perception that they don't get on -  and that the two sides are edging closer to a deal. Spurs started out asking for €14 million, Sevilla offered €6...now the two sides are closing in on a fee somewhere in the middle. Sevilla have just offered €8.5, Spurs are going down to around €10.5. Paper very confident that the deal will be done as both clubs very much want it to happen, and so does the player - who has already agreed everything with Sevilla.
