Transfer Rumour Bolleaux

The last time I can remember us seriously splashing out in January was in 2009, when we rebuilt the squad we sold off the previous summer by essentially buying them back six months on. :) Of the signings we made then, Palacios stands out as among the most transformative, just because of the tigerishness he brought to our midfield and how he helped (hopefully) permanently end our seemingly conflicted feeling as a club about playing water carriers over flair players.

If we genuinely went and got Isco in January after splashing out for Sissoko on deadline day, it would rank as equally transformative, in my opinion. It would define our (and Levy's) complete transformation from the penny-pinching entity of recent times into being players in the market chiefly concerned with backing our manager first and worrying about balancing it out after that. We're halfway there after the encouraging late move for Sissoko. Something like Isco in January would seal the deal, break a lot of stereotypes and signal intent (despite @NaijaSpurs 's distaste for that term :p ).

Still, seems very unlikely, so I won't be losing too much sleep over it, or really tearing my hair out over it potentially not happening - to do so after Levy broke our transfer record and our recent trend of neutral net spending to bring in Sissoko would just be ungrateful.

Nah, mate. Levy's done a great job, and he's taking the club forward in ways you and I can't even conceive of. He's brilliant, charismatic, compassionate, and pulls off the 'bald and sexy' look with aplomb - what's not to like? ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

".....that should do it. 'Post Reply'. GHod, I love this job. "

:p

He definitely was a couple of years ago. It's potentially a vdV situation, where he'd thrive again being a bigger fish in a smaller pond.

Would he actually get in the team? I don't see that he'd be a first choice ahead of Dembele in CM or Alli in the no 10 role and given where he'd be joining from, would he accept that?

He should be kind of used to not being 1st choice

One of the poorest left backs i've had the misfortune to see at international level (Belgium:cool:)

Brother of Romelu. Now I would take him?
Wait a second, Stephen, you can't do that! :)

Dismissing Jordan Lukaku based on internationals, whilst at the same time not willing to consider Vincent Janssen's international success?

No worries, just teasing :p

Question - did you see Atouba or Gilberto or Tramezzani?

My memory isn't that bad, but i tend to work in the now with football. My Mrs remembers them all and doesn't follow football, but is long suffering in many ways
I'm brilliant with movies, books and TV series but players have to be at extremes for me to store names and events.
Left backs i'm still In Benny mode history wise and Corluka (my personal Spurs fav great footballer)

No fair piont!
Vince and I understand each other - I'm giving him the big bellend fan put down so he can join the vaste and ever expanding list of players who have proved me wrong.

Vince, Erik and Moussa are on my current list.

Jordan Lukaku is a big pile of crap. If this rumour is true, I will be very upset!! I rather have Ryan Mason in goal than Lukaku at LB!!

I'm thinking with Vincent still settling and Harry coming back and needing time we need a 'frontman' in Jan.
Preferrably one with EPL milage on him so we dont have to puppy train him.
Berahino? (or has he retired? if not summer more likely)
Defoe? (very old but knows where the goal is)
Sturridge? (see above)
Chicharito?.........
??
I can't think of many...

I'd rather play without a striker...
